As a part time instructor, you should be available 6 to 20 hours every week to teach on Monday through Thursday between 3pm and 7pm and on Saturday between 9am and 1pm.  We provide the flexibility of you choosing your hours.

You will be trained on the Sylvan curriculum and teach students in a 3:1 small group setting.  You will offer instructions to Math (K-12) and SAT/ACT students.  At Sylvan, we also offer instructions in reading, writing, and study skills.   

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Prepares for each instructional session; Gathers and prepares materials as appropriate Instructs students according to the design of the Sylvan programs Evaluates and records the progress of each student on their program assignment Uses praise and encouragement to ensure students are engaged and inspired to learn Motivates students with Sylvan tokens given for specific achievements according to the Sylvan instructional management standards Manages the conclusion of each instructional session and manages the completion of learning log and transition activities; Supports procedures to ensure student safety and well-being Communicates specific student needs to Center staff

SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

Bachelor Degree  Teaching/tutoring experience  State level teaching certificate preferred
