    Job Description

    Are you looking for an opportunity to work with a talented team and expand your experience in Finance and Cost Analysis and perform a vital role within our organization?

    SSI needs to enhance our team with a Cost Analyst to support our current list of services provided for the U.S. Navy.

    This position will be remote due to COVID-19 precautions.

    YOUR KEY DUTIES AS A COST ANALYST WILL BE:

    The general requirements for financial management support include, but are not limited to providing analysis of complex data and database relationships based on analysis, make recommendations or brief discovered relationships in the data, developing and running queries from the "back end of the system” on an as-needed basis, writing new procedures to the MAXIMO platform for access from the "front end” for the end-users, and guiding the end-users with types of data and reports that can be garnered from the system to aid in the performance of the financial managers and program managers.

    • Evaluating funding requests to determine if requirements are appropriate given funding limitations and fiscal regulations
    • Providing guidance and recommendations to PMs and senior management concerning reallocation and prioritization of efforts
    • Providing interpretation to PM staff regarding budgetary policy and practices mandated by the Assistant Secretary of the Navy (Financial Management and Comptroller, ASN (FM&C)
    • Monitor and comment on legal and regulatory controls over approved NAVFAC budget allocations providing advice to PMs on a wide variety of effective and efficient methods for the acquisition and use of funds to support the organization's programs and activities
    • Reviewing funding requests that may be urgent or associated with highly visible special interest equipment procurements for Overseas Contingency Operations (OCO)
    • Coordinating and liaise with external points of contact within procurement partners to obtain execution information and obligating documents inputting funding documents into the financial systems that include but are not limited to SABRs, Navy ERP and Standard Accounting and Reporting System (STARS) or any other financial system NAVFAC may implement; monitoring, analyzing and reporting on commitments and obligations data from the appropriate financial systems on a weekly basis

    IF THIS ALIGNS WITH YOUR EXPERIENCE AND SOUNDS LIKE IT IS THE CAREER PATH YOU WISH TO PROGRESS, THESE ARE THE REQUIREMENTS TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION:

    • Bachelor's degree with 10 years of experience
    • Prior DoD (Active or Reserve Duty, Enlisted or Officer, and Branch) experience or DoD Civil Service Experience is welcomed and will be considered.
    • Must be able to work in a team-oriented environment.
    • Strong oral and written communication skills are a must.
    • Detailed oriented and able to prioritize tasking.
    • Computer literate – Basic MS Word, MS Excel, Power Point, and Project.
    • Familiar with SABRs, Navy ERP and Standard Accounting and Reporting System (STARS).
    • Energetic, positive thinking, and able to work in a flexible dynamic environment.
    • Active DoD Secret Security Clearance or Clearance active within the past 24 months.

      • DUE TO COVID-19, ALL WORK IS BEING CONDUCTED REMOTELY, VIA TELEWORK AGREEMENTS. EMPLOYEE IS REQUIRED TO FOLLOW ALL DEPARTMENT AND SSI CORPORATE POLICIES, AS DIRECTED BY SUPERVISORY OR SENIOR OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT PERSONNEL OR APPOINTED REPRESENTATIVES.
    • Business Office hours.
      • Normal business hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
    • 90% of tasking will be computer-based.
