To support that challenge, the Seeds Development team is currently seeking a Seeds Development Trialing Intern in Stanton, MN.

    Duration: May 2024-August 2024

    Accountabilities:

    • Learn and adhere to Syngenta safety and stewardship policies
    • Participate in daily tier meetings, HSE meetings, and other team meetings as needed
    • Perform fieldwork including planting, staking plots, field data acquisition such as emergence notes, silk and pollen shed notes, early season agronomic notes, assist in managing pollen collection activities, and plant and ear height notes
    • Manage data from experiments which includes acquisition and analysis support
    • Assist with nursery inoculation and pollination activities

    Project Purpose

    • Learn, support and critically evaluate our current herbicide efficacy processes, update work instructions and build improved training materials.

    Project Goals

    • Lead spray application and data collection processes in spray trials
    • Critically evaluate and update process protocols and training documents.
    • Present overview of critical assessment and associated improvement recommendations at end of internship.

    Project Primary Activities

    • Monitor planted spray trials for growth stage to recommend application dates
    • Prepare spray trials for application by organizing protocols and maps, staking, and flagging fields
    • Assist with pre-application note collection
    • Assist applicators with spray applications
    • Collect post spray notes
    • Assist with data import
    • Identify and update gaps in work instructions
    • Identify and update gaps in training material
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent
    • Must be pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Agronomy, Crop Science, Agricultural Business, or another closely related field of study
    • Must express interest in the seed production industry and willingness to learn
    • Must hold valid driver’s license and clean driving record
    • All applicants must be eligible to work in the US

    • Detail/Accuracy oriented – All procedures must be understood and followed
    • An independent individual who is self-motivating and needs little supervision
    • Proficiencies in Microsoft office (word, excel, powerpoint)

    • Willingness to travel during peak field seasons
