    General Summary:  Syringa Networks, a well-established telecom company specializing in custom network and voice solutions for businesses, is seeking a Network Operations Center (NOC) Tier 1 Technician to join our NOC in Boise, Idaho.  The NOC Technician is a member of the 24/7/365 NOC and helps diagnose, isolate, and resolve carrier network events and troubleshoots across a variety of networking technologies including Ethernet, MPLS, IP, VoIP, DWDM, microwave, and SONET/TDM.  This position also monitors and interprets carrier network alarms and events, creates and manages trouble tickets, and works with customers and other carriers to resolve inter-network issues. This position requires a CCNA certification (or equivalent), an understanding of Ethernet, MPLS, and IP networks and network elements, and good problem-solving, troubleshooting and time management skills. Customer service is a key component to the NOC Tier 1 role, and customer focus, courtesy , and professionalism are critical to success. At Syringa Networks, there are multiple potential growth paths for the Tier 1 Technicians.  Depending on goals, skills, and capabilities, a NOC Tier 1 Technician may promote to a Network Engineering or Network Provisioning role, IT, or up through the ranks of the NOC.  We strongly encourage and promote education with our Tuition Reimbursement Program. Essential Job Functions:  Troubleshooting, isolating, and resolving/escalating network issues and events Proactively monitor network stability/performance in a 24/7 environment Create and manage trouble tickets Communicate and interact with customers, other carriers, and internal groups (Network Provisioning, Network Engineering, Inside Plant and Outside Plant) as needed for trouble resolution Oversee network maintenance activities Willingness and ability to rotate between 1st, 2nd, and 3rd work shifts Participate in on-call rotation with other team members Willingness and available to work extended hours as needed Provide excellent customer service Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:   Knowledge and experience with Ethernet, MPLS, IP, routing and switching- VoIP/telephony, DWDM, microwave, SONET/TDM a plus- Routing protocols (BGP, IS-IS, OSPF) a plus Skills and ability to diagnose, identify, and isolate Layer 1 through Layer 3 network issues Excellent customer-service skills, professionalism, courtesy Excellent organizational and time management skills and ability to complete tasks on-time Detail-oriented and process-oriented Knowledge and experience with Microsoft software applications (Outlook, Excel, Word, Visio)- Microsoft Dynamics a plus       Education and Experience:   CCNA certification (or equivalent) Associates degree (or higher) in a technical discipline 2+ years equivalent work experience in a tiered operation support in the telecommunications industry or similar environment
