  • Responsibilities

    Position Overview

    The System Administrator is responsible for installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and maintaining hardware and software systems and administering system accounts supporting OPTEVFOR Cyber Operational Test & Evaluation (OT&E) missions. The role ensures the security, availability, and reliability of Cyber OT&E infrastructure, toolsets, and flyaway kits, and provides technical consultation on network, system, and application issues. The System Administrator supports operational test requirements tailored to individual test events and provides real-time troubleshooting support during test execution.

    Security Clearance Requirement: Eligibility for Top Secret / Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI).

    Qualifications

    Minimum of five (5) years of experience managing Windows Server and Active Directory environments, including installation, configuration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and operational support of computer systems and servers

    Key Responsibilities

    Infrastructure and Systems Administration

    Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot server and workstation hardware and software supporting Cyber OT&E infrastructure

    Administer system accounts, group policies, and access controls to ensure compliance with organizational standards and security requirements

    Maintain the physical and logical security of network and system infrastructure and protect the integrity of resident data

    Manage multiple systems operating across one or more operating system platforms

    Security, Compliance, and Hardening

    Implement and maintain STIGs, security patches, and operating system/application updates in accordance with DoD/DON policies and guidance

    Maintain system and network security posture, including regular security monitoring to detect potential intrusions

    Review ACAS/Tenable scan results and remediate identified vulnerabilities

    Apply operating system, network, and application hardening techniques to reduce attack surface

    Support secure VPN usage and access control mechanisms as required

    Backup, Recovery, and Monitoring

    Manage backup and recovery solutions and procedures in accordance with DoD/DON policies

    Perform backup operations, verify job completion, and test recovery procedures

    Monitor system, server, and network performance, availability, and capacity

    Review system and application logs to identify faults, performance issues, or security concerns

    Perform file archival and purging activities as required

    Cyber OT&E Toolsets and Test Support

    Administer and maintain Cyber OT&E toolsets and flyaway kits, ensuring readiness for test execution

    Develop and maintain the master image for the Cyber OT&E toolset in accordance with Government requirements

    Clone and validate toolset builds to meet operational timelines and test-specific requirements

    Support infrastructure and toolset configuration tailored to individual test events

    Provide real-time troubleshooting and technical support during Cyber OT&E execution

    Support ongoing infrastructure status reporting to inform current and future operations planning and mission readiness

    Process Improvement and Documentation

    Support development and maintenance of standard operating procedures (SOPs) governing use of computing resources

    Research and recommend innovative and automated approaches to system administration tasks

    Install new systems and rebuild existing servers, configuring hardware, peripherals, services, directories, storage, and settings in accordance with standards and operational requirements

    Upgrade and maintain administrative tools, utilities, and supporting software

    Enterprise IT architecture and system integration principles

    System/server diagnostic tools and fault identification techniques
