Overview
A global leader in electro-optical and infrared (EO/IR) sensing systems for defense, security, and specialized mission applications is seeking a mid-level Systems Engineer to serve as the technical face of the company for our government and prime contractor customers. This does require frequent travel to customer sites, mostly domestic, with some international as needed.
This role blends systems engineering, customer engagement, field integration, and technical troubleshooting in support of defense programs. The successful candidate will work to install, integrate, troubleshoot, and support advanced electro-optical systems in the field, while coordinating closely with internal teams and international partners.
Must Haves:
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Computer Science, or related technical discipline
- Engineering experience in a relevant technical environment (mid-level, not entry-level)
- Ability to travel frequently on domestic assignments, with some international travel
- Technical field support or field systems engineering background
- Strong customer communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to interpret and communicate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences
- Exposure to electro-optical, infrared, or sensor systems
- Familiarity with UAVs, radar, or related mission systems integration
- Comfortable with field-based system installation and troubleshooting
- Must be a US Citizen and be able. to obtain security clearance
- Able to thrive in a fast-paced, small company environment
- Willingness to be on-site at the Germantown, MD location when not traveling
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the defense industry is highly preferred
- Prior experience working directly with the government or prime contractors
Roles & Responsibilities
- Support system installation and integration at customer sites across the U.S., including configuring, calibrating, and validating performance against requirements.
- Serve as the primary field-based technical contact between its customers, addressing inquiries, diagnosing issues, and proposing solutions.
- Troubleshoot and resolve system failures in operational environments with urgency and professionalism.
- Provide effective communication and documentation of technical findings, operational status, and recommended corrective actions.
- Coordinate with internal teams and international partners to ensure alignment on system performance, engineering updates, and customer expectations.
- Contribute to customer training and technical briefings as needed, ensuring understanding of system capabilities and limitations.
- Manage travel logistics and maintain readiness to deploy on short notice for field missions.
- Support ongoing efforts to enhance engineering presence and responsiveness in the U.S. defense market.
