    Position Summary

    The System Engineer – Electric Distribution is a key contributor to the Engineering team, responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing electric distribution system design and engineering activities. This role combines technical expertise, leadership, and collaboration to support reliable, safe, and efficient electric service for members.

    • Serve as a critical member of the Engineering team supporting electric distribution system planning and design
    • Apply strong analytical, technical, and leadership skills to guide engineering activities
    • Collaborate closely with internal teams, consultants, and members
    • Report to the Manager of Engineering, a licensed Professional Engineer
    • Support the development, operation, and continuous improvement of the electric distribution system

    Job Function

    • Plan, organize, and coordinate the activities of staking engineers in alignment with company policies and objectives
    • Coordinate electric system planning and electric line design functions within the Distribution Services Department
    • Provide technical input and direction to consultants on system design, construction, maintenance, and operation methods
    • Support member understanding and acceptance of Distribution Services Department activities
    • Perform engineering analysis and system modeling to support planning and operational decisions
    • Identify and direct corrective actions related to voltage, power factor, and load factor issues
    • Review and analyze system performance to improve safety, productivity, and service reliability
    • Prepare contracts for line construction, maintenance, and system improvements, and assist with contractor oversight
    • Support emergency response activities, including assisting with dispatch during system emergencies

    Education and Experience

    • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering required
    • Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology or other related engineering degrees considered
    • Minimum of two years of experience supporting electric utility engineering plans and programs
    • Three to five years of experience with a rural electric distribution system preferred
    • Demonstrated ability to lead and direct technical teams
    • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification preferred, with the ability and intent to obtain Professional Engineer (PE) licensure

    Qualifications

    • Ability to direct and oversee the work of line design personnel
    • Strong knowledge of electric system design, construction, maintenance, and operations
    • Experience developing plans and schedules for electric distribution system improvements
    • Willingness and ability to perform detailed engineering analysis using system modeling and coordination software
    • Strong communication skills with management, employees, members, contractors, and consultants
    • Ability to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders
    • Commitment to professionalism, reliability, and regular attendance
