    POSITION SUMMARY

    We are seeking a System Engineer to join our collaborative, innovative engineering team. We are one of the largest not-for-profit electric and fiber cooperatives in Indiana, serving over 35,000 electric members and 11,000+ fiber subscribers across seven counties.

    We are looking for a technically skilled, detail-oriented team player with strong analytical capabilities. Candidates should be licensed Professional Engineers (PE) or possess an EIT certification with a commitment to earning a PE license.

    JOB FUNCTION:

    • Lead, plan, organize, and coordinate activities of staking engineers.
    • Coordinate electric system planning and line design within the Distribution Services Department.
    • Provide engineering input to internal stakeholders and external consultants regarding system design, construction, maintenance, and operations.
    • Develop and promote member support for engineering-related activities.
    • Analyze voltage, power factor, and load factor issues and direct appropriate system corrections.
    • Perform system modeling and long-range planning using engineering software.
    • Prepare and manage contracts for line construction, maintenance, and system improvements.
    • Contribute to continuous improvement in service reliability, safety, and operational efficiency.
    • Provide dispatch assistance during emergencies as needed.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering is required. Degrees in Engineering Technology or other related disciplines may be considered.
    • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in electric utility engineering, including system planning and implementation.
    • 3–5 years of experience in rural electric distribution is preferred.
    • EIT certification preferred; PE licensure or willingness to pursue PE is required.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATION:

    • Demonstrated ability to lead and direct technical staff.
    • Proficiency in electric distribution system design, analysis, and planning.
    • Skilled in using modeling and coordination software for engineering analysis.
    • Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across teams and with cooperative members.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects and timelines in a dynamic utility environment.
    • Availability to respond to emergencies as part of dispatch support.
