OVERVIEW:
SILTT is seeking a skilled and motivated Systems Administrator to support the design, implementation, and maintenance of our corporate and development infrastructure. You’ll work with a variety of operating systems, physical and virtual platforms, and infrastructure tools to help ensure our systems are reliable, secure, and performant. As part of a collaborative engineering team, you’ll contribute to project execution, troubleshoot system issues, and help implement improvements across the environment. A DAY IN THE LIFE:
In this role, you’ll be a critical contributor to the daily operation and ongoing improvement of our infrastructure. You’ll assist with system deployments, manage patching and updates, monitor performance and availability, and respond to incidents to ensure minimal disruption. Your responsibilities will span both reactive support and proactive enhancements, with opportunities to deepen your expertise in automation, scripting, and system-level troubleshooting as part of a collaborative team.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
System Deployment and Maintenance:
Support the configuration, deployment, hardening, and ongoing monitoring of physical and virtual systems across multiple operating systems, including Linux (RHEL family preferred), Windows, Android, and macOS
Manage the installation and setup of servers, workstations, virtual and cloud infrastructure, in development and production environments
Perform routine updates, patch management, and maintain backups to ensure system integrity and continuity
Participate in planning and execution of infrastructure changes, upgrades, and migrations in coordination with other teams
Networking Support:
Configure and support basic networking components at the system level (e.g., interfaces, DNS, DHCP, static routes, firewalls)
Troubleshoot connectivity issues involving endpoints, servers, and infrastructure
Maintain awareness of system-related networking dependencies and proactively monitor for performance or availability issues
Monitoring and Troubleshooting:
Monitor system performance, resource utilization, and availability using tools such as Nagios, Prometheus, or similar platforms
Respond to and resolve operational incidents by performing diagnostics, applying corrective actions, and escalating as needed
Assist in conducting root cause analysis and post-incident reviews to improve overall system resilience
Document troubleshooting steps, system changes, and support procedures for knowledge sharing and auditabilit
Research and Innovation:
Drive technological advancement by proactively identifying and researching emerging systems, applications
Work closely with leading vendors to evaluate and benchmark candidate solutions, ensuring all new technologies align with our long-term strategic goals
Security and Compliance:
Apply security best practices to system configurations, user access controls, and software installations
Support the execution of compliance requirements, such as audit logging, system validation, and patch reporting
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience
5+ years of experience administering Linux systems in production environments
Understanding of virtualization and storage technologies
Familiarity with core networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, routing, firewalls)
Experience supporting infrastructure operations and incident response
SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:
Applies structured troubleshooting methods to resolve complex system issues
Demonstrates working knowledge of change control and configuration management
Comfortable writing and maintaining shell scripts to automate common tasks
Collaborates effectively across technical teams and adapts to shifting priorities
Communicates clearly and documents procedures with attention to operational clarity
Approaches tasks with a security-first mindset and attention to system resilience
ABILITY TO WORK REMOTE:
Partially remote. The work associated with this role is expected to be performed mostly remote, though may be performed on-site as desired, and will require travel for periodic on-site support to our customers.
