  • Responsibilities

    ABOUT THE ROLE

    The Systems Administrator serves as the museum’s technology expert, manager of our technology stack, and liaison to outside technology vendors and partners. They also serve as the first point of contact for staff with technology needs or issues. They manage every aspect of the technology hardware and software infrastructure at the museum and partner with staff and leadership to assess current and future needs and develop solutions to keep the museum’s infrastructure up-to-date and forward-thinking.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Maintain and regularly audit systems including Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams), Active Directory (hybrid/Azure AD), and endpoint management to ensure performance, integrity, and security.

    • Manage system updates, backups, identity and access management (IAM), and security controls across cloud and on-prem environments.

    • Administer network infrastructure including switches, firewalls, wireless systems, and VLANs to ensure reliable connectivity and segmentation.

    • Oversee lifecycle management of IT assets including servers, endpoints, and SaaS platforms.

    • Provide responsive, user-focused IT support for staff across desktops, mobile devices, conferencing systems, and line-of-business applications.

    • Support and optimize collaboration and communication platforms, including Microsoft Teams (Phone System/Voice) and related integrations.

    • Manage vendors and service providers (e.g., MSPs, internet providers, software vendors), ensuring accountability, performance, and cost control.

    • Collaborate with departments to improve adoption and effective use of systems such as SharePoint, OneDrive, and other cloud tools.

    • Plan and execute IT projects including infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and security improvements.

    • Partner with leadership to define business needs and translate them into a practical, long-term technology roadmap aligned with a cloud-first approach.

    POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

    • Broad experience across IT domains, including infrastructure, cloud systems, networking, security, and enterprise applications.
    • Experience developing and implementing IT policies, standards, and procedures.
    • Proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally, build consensus, and navigate diverse working styles.
    • Strong ability to communicate technical concepts and the business value of IT to nontechnical stakeholders.
    • Demonstrated success driving organizational change and delivering measurable results.
    • Bachelor’s degree in IT or a related field, or equivalent experience.
