    Job Summary

    The Systems Administrator is responsible for the deployment, maintenance, and support of IT infrastructure across both client environments and internal operations. This hands-on role includes systems administration, cloud services, networking, security, and Linux server management. The Systems Administrator also serves as an escalation point for the service desk, providing advanced troubleshooting and resolution for complex technical issues. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced MSP setting, is comfortable managing diverse environments, and contributes to both service delivery and internal IT excellence.

    The ideal candidate is both people- and process-oriented, capable of clearly communicating technical concepts, and willing to get hands-on with systems and infrastructure throughout the customer lifecycle.

    Essential Job Functions

    • Administer and support systems across client and internal environments, including:
      • Microsoft 365 (Exchange, Teams, SharePoint, Intune)
      • Windows Server, Active Directory, and Group Policy
      • Linux server administration (Ubuntu, CentOS, RHEL)
      • Azure and/or AWS cloud infrastructure (IaaS, networking, backups)
      • Endpoint protection, patch management, and backup solutions
      • Proficient in virtualization technologies such as VMware vSphere/ESXi, with experience in deploying, managing, and troubleshooting virtualized environments to ensure high availability and performance.
    • Monitor and respond to alerts from RMM/NMS platforms in accordance with SLAs.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve escalated Level 2–3 issues involving servers, networks, applications, and Linux-based systems.
    • Implement infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and service improvements for both clients and internal systems.
    • Support, configure, and deploy network Infrastructure - firewalls, switches, access points, and routing configurations (Fortinet, Ubiquiti, and Cisco preferred).
    • Hands-on experience with VoIP and Unified Communications as a Service (UCaaS) platform, including configuration, deployment, and troubleshooting of voice systems, and collaboration tools to ensure seamless communication across the organization
    • Provide technical support for internal users, including workstation setup, software deployment, and account provisioning.
    • Maintain IT asset inventory, licensing, and documentation (SOPs, runbooks, client/internal records).
    • Participate in IT projects such as system rollouts, cloud migrations, and security enhancements.
    • Assist with scripting and automation using PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
    • Ensure compliance with security policies and contribute to process improvement initiatives.

    Education and Experience

    • 5+ years of experience in an MSP or IT service provider environment.
    • Proven experience in systems administration, infrastructure support, and internal IT operations.
    • Hands-on experience with Microsoft 365, Linux, cloud platforms, networking, and security tools.
    • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
    • Industry certifications such as CompTIA Network+/Security+, Microsoft, Linux+, or Azure/AWS Associate-level preferred.
    • Familiarity with ITIL or structured service delivery frameworks is a plus.
