Role Overview
The Systems Analyst supports business analysis, requirements gathering, and application development activities within a healthcare-focused environment. This role works closely with business and technical stakeholders to analyze processes, document requirements, and support system enhancements, particularly in Medicaid claims processing systems.
Key Responsibilities
Business Analysis & Requirements Gathering
Gather and document business requirements, use cases, workflows, and acceptance criteria
Analyze current processes and recommend improvements or automation opportunities
Translate user needs into functional requirements and system specifications
System Analysis & Design Support
Evaluate system capabilities and feasibility of requested enhancements
Perform cost-benefit analysis and identify solution alternatives
Ensure designs align with organizational standards and architecture guidelines
Testing & Quality Assurance
Develop test scripts, generate test data, and execute system testing
Identify defects, perform debugging, and validate fixes
Ensure applications meet quality, performance, and maintainability standards
Communication & Stakeholder Collaboration
Provide status updates and communicate issues impacting delivery
Collaborate with developers, analysts, and project teams
Present system functionality and technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Documentation & Knowledge Transfer
Create and maintain technical and functional documentation
Support knowledge transfer and reduce single points of failure
Document system workflows, architecture, and dependencies
Required Qualifications
5+ years of experience in business/system analysis within IT environments
Experience with Medicaid claims processing systems
Strong experience gathering and documenting requirements and workflows
Experience performing cost-benefit analysis and evaluating system solutions
Experience analyzing input/output data and reporting structures
Experience using Azure DevOps and creating wireframes
Knowledge of Agile or Scrum methodologies
Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills
Knowledge of IT architecture, data integrity, and security practices
Awareness of emerging technologies and industry trends
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Texas DIR Project Delivery Framework
Familiarity with enterprise architecture and information management practices
Experience working within large-scale or government IT environments
