Position Overview
The Systems Engineer II will be responsible for ensuring the stability, performance, and security of our systems, proactively identifying areas for improvement, and providing technical expertise to support the team's objectives. This individual will participate in project planning and execution, contribute to the development of technical documentation, and serve as a key resource for resolving complex technical issues across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
• Design and implement scalable, secure system architectures for new initiatives.
• Integrate and configure hardware and software components for reliable, high-performance systems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and develop tailored system solutions.
• Monitor system performance and ensure high availability by identifying and resolving issues proactively.
• Create and maintain comprehensive system documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and procedures.
• Conduct system testing and validation to meet functional and performance standards.
• Support and maintain existing systems with an emphasis on automation and continuous improvement.
• Assist in system upgrades, patches, and enhancements in coordination with other engineering staff.
• Perform root cause analysis and implement long-term solutions to complex technical issues.
• Manage system backups and recovery processes; contribute to disaster recovery planning.
• Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies to continuously enhance system infrastructure.
• Participate in an on-call rotation to provide after-hours support and ensure system uptime.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
• Bachelor's degree in informatics, computing, or technology required. Combinations of education and experience will be considered.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in systems engineering or a related technical role; 5 years preferred.
• Certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA, or AWS Certified Solutions Architect preferred.
Skills and Competencies
• Familiarity with DevOps tools and practices preferred.
• Practical understanding of system security concepts and hands-on experience with security tools preferred.
• General familiarity with AI/ML technologies and their infrastructure requirements preferred.
• Strong understanding of system architecture, design, and integration.
• Hands-on experience with Windows and Linux operating systems.
• Proficiency with cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure.
• Experience with virtualization technologies, especially VMware.
• Scripting and automation skills in Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
• Solid understanding of networking protocols, VPNs, firewalls, and load balancers.
• Experience managing Microsoft SQL Server databases with a focus on performance and security.
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
• Proven ability to work independently and in team environments.
