POSITION: Logistics/Freight Manager

SCOPE:

The Logistics/Freight Manager will act as a liaison between customers and freight carriers. The primary goal of the Freight Manager will be to ensure the efficient movement of goods and materials from suppliers to customers, while managing costs and meeting customer satisfaction targets. This position negotiates contracts with carriers in a manner that optimizes profits. The Freight Manager will also be responsible for providing logistics support and managing a 2-3 direct reports.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Negotiate contracts and agreements with logistics service providers to achieve cost-effective solutions without compromising quality.
• Identifying and selecting reputable and safe carriers for freight services.
• Collaborate with suppliers, vendors, and internal teams to establish strong relationships and streamline logistics processes.
• Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
• Providing customers with shipping quotes.
• Booking orders with carriers.
• Assisting to prepare carriers for loads.
• Tracking status of loads.
• Collaborating with shippers, carriers, and dispatchers to manage scheduled collections and drop-offs.
• Keeping accurate records of relevant activities.
• Updating customers on the status of shipments and assisting with other inquiries.
• Maintaining current knowledge of market trends in the transportation marketplace.
• Ensuring that our technology is forward-thinking and easy for customers to utilize to get load status information.
• Identifying and selecting reputable and safe carriers for freight services.
• Continuously evaluate and optimize logistics network and operations to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
• Stay updated with industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices in logistics and supply chain management.

REQUIREMENTS:

• College degree 
• 3-5 years of work experience in freight brokerage
• Excellent communication and people skills
• People management experience
• Responsive with a sense of urgency
• Willing to collaborate with others
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Negotiating skills
• Proficient in using logistics software and tools for tracking, reporting, and analysis.
• Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
• Proficient with Google Suites or MS Office
