Job Description

As RF SYSTEMS ENGINEERING MANAGER, you will manage the RF systems design and engineering functions for in-building and enterprise wireless technologies including WLAN and DAS. You will lead a team of wireless surveyors and RF engineers, forecasting and maintaining appropriate levels of staffing resources. You will forecast, budget, oversee and maintain the technical training and certifications requirements necessary to support the products and services within the scope your position that we offer our clients.

You will apply your wide range of skills in pre-sales engineering and as client facing technical subject matter expert to ensure success throughout the lifecycle of client engagement. You are responsible to identify, develop, and maintain the processes and procedures essential to successful project delivery and client satisfaction. You will identify and propose new products and services that bring value to our Clients and increase the Company’s opportunities for sales and profitability.

Outlined below are the primary areas of responsibility and associated tasks:

Leadership and Management

• Develop road map for growth of RF engineering team
• Manage, recruit, grow, justify and expand a team of qualified RF Engineers; own the operational budget for this team; make decisions and be accountable.
• Be a mentor to your direct reports providing them with guidance and support to achieve their career path and leadership growth objectives.
• Effectively communicate the goals and direction of the Company to your team of network engineers ensuring resource alignment with the Company’s vision.
• Develop curriculum for training to ensure the team maintains necessary knowledge and certifications.
• Train and mentor wireless engineers and technicians (including physical layer) in use of tools, testers, industry best practices, etc. applicable to their functions
• Train wireless engineers to commission and troubleshoot systems
• Assist wireless engineers and technicians with exam preparation for OEM certifications, FCC license, etc.

Technical Duties

• SME for RF engineering engagements (ERRC DAS, Cell DAS, CBRS, Wi-Fi, etc.) including presales, design, carrier/AHJ coordination, commissioning, troubleshooting, deliverables/closeouts
• Lead designer for iBwave
• Learn/Utilize Ekahau tool for enterprise Wi-Fi designs and develop design reports
• Diagnoses, troubleshoots, repairs, and optimizes RF networks.
• Performs RF design, field, and testing surveys.
• Develop internal documentation including method of procedure based on industry best practices and client requirements
• Provide technical to support to our project managers, wireless engineers, and technicians including onsite support throughout the project
• Support Construction Services Engineers in the development of complete design packages (i.e. AutoCAD, physical layer, etc.)
• Reviews deliverables and documentation
• Utilize industry knowledge, contact network, etc. to facilitate rental/acquisition of tools, test equipment, signal source hardware, 3rd party services, etc.
• Manage/support engagements with OEMs and client technical teams
• Manage engagements with carriers for design approvals and signal sources

Vendor Interface

• Stay on top of new technology developments, new OEM offerings, etc. particularly with respect to IP based DAS systems, SD- RAN, ORAN, etc.
• Technical interface to vendors
• Stay current on technologies and trends; advise Leadership on strategic initiatives
• Present every 3-4 months on new/emerging technologies to sales team
• Complete and maintain vendors’ technical requirements for the Company’s reseller certifications and programs
