    Summary:

    Perform inspections and document the work performed by Tanco Engineering, Inc. to repair storage tanks and build new storage tanks. In addition, drive continuous improvement to the quality of Tanco’s work by identifying areas in need of improvement and by helping to develop and implement solutions. Examples include identifying individual welder skills in need of improvement, and procedures that could be more efficient and/or effective in producing a quality finished product.

    Essential Functions:

    Understand and be familiar with the NDE and QC requirements of Tanco, its customers, and the applicable Codes and Standards such as API Standards 650 and 653, and ASME Section IX.

    Work in a cooperative manner with the Superintendents and Foremen assigned to Tanco’s tank repair and tank construction projects.

    Act as a source of quality-related information and leadership.

    Coordinate with customer representatives, Tanco’s Superintendents and Foremen, and third-party providers to schedule all necessary inspection and testing activities.

    Perform audits of materials, personnel qualifications/performance, and workmanship and report findings to Tanco’s Project Manager. Assist the Project Manager in developing and implementing solutions to identified problem areas.

    Perform or supervise the performance of all NDE and QC activities on Tanco’s tank repair and tank construction projects.

    Oversee the qualification of welders, either directly or through a third party. Maintain documentation of current welder qualifications for all welders at the sites.

    Maintain documentation of approved weld procedures at the sites.

    Develop an Inspection and Test Plan (ITP) for each project at the site. As each project progresses, ensure that all NDE and QC tasks in the ITP are performed and that the required customer signatures are obtained as the tasks are completed.

    Maintain all current NDE and QC documentation at the site as each project progresses. At the conclusion of each project, assemble a complete data package (as-built drawings, welder qualifications, weld maps, MTR’s, NDE reports, etc.).

    Perform other duties as assigned by Tanco’s Project Manager.

    Essential Skills:

    Must possess strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

    Must have the ability to read, write, and communicate effectively.

    Must have strong computer skills, particularly in the use of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.

    Essential Physical & Duty Requirements:

    Must be able and willing to work at elevated heights from roofs, ladders, scaffolding, and aerial work platforms.

    Must be able to lift and carry as much as 50 pounds.

    Must be able to perform tasks in an outdoor environment, in hot and cold temperatures.

    Must be willing and able to work in confined spaces, with all proper and required safety training and precautions in place.

    The work will require frequent bending, kneeling, crouching, and stooping, and some climbing of ladders and stairways.

    The work will require standing and/or walking for extended periods of time (as much as 10 hours per day).

    Must be willing to work overtime as required to support Tanco’s field activities.

    At times, the work may require the use of a respirator or fresh air breathing equipment. Must be medically cleared to use a respirator or fresh air breathing equipment. Facial hair and glasses must be such that they do not interfere with the sealing area of respiratory equipment.

    Qualifications

    Minimum of 3 years of experience, and any one of the following certifications:

    o API-653 Aboveground Storage Tank Inspector

    o AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI)

    o AWS Senior Certified Welding Inspector (SCWI)

    o VT Level II in accordance with ASNT SNT-TC-1A.

    Additional certifications acceptable but not required:

    o API 510 Pressure Vessel Inspector

    o API 570 Piping Inspector

    o API 588 (pending)*

    *To be obtained within five (5) years of the standard and program being implemented.

    Or

    If none of the above certifications, then a minimum of 10 years of experience in the design, fabrication, or examination of industrial pressure piping and hold a VT Level II in accordance with ASNT SNT-TC-1A.

    Must have or obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) Card.

    Must successfully complete all required Tanco and customer safety training.

    Must comply with all Tanco and customer drug and alcohol testing requirements (pre-employment, random, and for cause).

    Must successfully complete all Tanco and customer-required background checks.
