As part of our Engineering team, you'll help drive product development, business systems, data analytics, security, and architecture. The Product Owner's chief responsibility will be to translate business needs from various stakeholders to functional requirements and user stories for our Animal Health software products. Reporting to the PO Lead, the Product Owner role is also important for the continued growth in capacity of the team by ensuring that high quality analysis and planning is achieved, enabling high quality downstream development. Technical writing forms another key responsibility as there is a need to explain complex information in a clear and concise manner, and work with internal stakeholders to enable high customer satisfaction.

Here's how:

• Works with subject matter experts (SME) and other product owners to create and document requirements and user stories.
• Works with the SMEs to understand requirements' dependencies.
• Supports the PO Lead with intra-team dynamics with respect to priorities and scope.
• Conducts just-in-time analysis and ensures usability of the application.
• Creates specification documents for the engineering team (level of documentation may vary depending on the requirement and specific needs of the team)
• Works with developers and QA analysts during development and testing activities
• Assists with creating user acceptance criteria and participates in testing of the application.
• Participates with the team to define and implement improvement stories to increase the velocity and quality of software development programs.
• Manages other special projects and other duties as required.

What you bring to this role

• Minimum 4 years with business analysis and technical writing skills with at least 2 years performing user driven development with an agile team.
• Proficient at translating business needs from external and internal stakeholders into functional requirements and user stories for a development team
• Strong knowledge of Agile methodologies and practices
• Experience working with SMEs to facilitate the sizing of epics and user stories.
• Ability to understand and represent both the business and technology.
• Excellent communicator in person, using a communication platform, and through email.
• Proficient with user driven development and requirements gathering.
• Experience writing functional requirements.
• Experience with transactional Web and analytical applications (BI).
• Passionate commitment to delivering products on time.
• Thrives in a highly collaborative, fast paced environment.
• Diligent, detailed, mindful, and thorough.
• Self-motivated, detail oriented, and organized.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Asset – Experience with UI / UX design.
• Asset – Experience with the Agriculture industry, specifically Animal Health.

Education / Certification Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or similar experience
• Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience

The US base salary range for this position is: $$65k - $82k USD. This position may be eligible for a 7.5% performance- based BONUS. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level and location. Within that range, individual pay is determined by work location and a variety of factors, which may include but not limited, as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held.
