    Job Description

     

    We are an established commercial concrete contractor servicing the panhandle of Texas.We focus mainly on medium to large commercial projects within a 300-mile radius of Lubbock.We primarily provide earthmoving, tilt-wall, structural concrete, and concrete paving.We are looking for a very well qualified, experienced concrete superintendent to handle 3 to 5 crews totaling 40-60 form setters, rodbusters, and finishers.We provide our own earthmoving on most projects, so the concrete superintendent will need to work with the dirt crews to make sure things are ready for the concrete crews upon arrival.Listed below are some of the responsibilities and duties of the Concrete Superintendent.

     

    Field Duties

    • Manage multiple projects and crew simultaneously
    • Have a positive, hard-working, can-do attitude
    • Ability to read, interpret, and understand plans, specs, scopes of work, etc.
    • Effectively communicate in Spanish and English
    • OSHA and First Aid training are a plus
    • Effectively manage foremen and their crews to complete projects on time and within budget
    • Be responsible for the high level of quality that is required
    • Ensure that all PPE and safety protocols are being followed
    • Provide foresight for the needs of machinery, personnel, rentals, and material needs in advance
    • Schedule subcontractors such as demo, pump trucks, and saw-cut crews
    • Identify issues before they become a problem and find solutions immediately
    • Be a respectful leader, gaining the trust of others by being fair, honest, reliable, and hard working
    • Ensure company tools, vehicles, forms, materials, equipment, etc. are being maintained, cleaned, and accounted for
    • Hold weekly toolbox safety meetings
    • Some overnight travel is required
    • Strict compliance with ADA job site requirements

     

    Other Duties

    • Maintain excellent relationships with owners, general contractors, project managers, employees, subcontractors, and other superintendents
    • Determine sequencing of work on all projects, work with our project manager to generate 3-week look ahead schedules that are realistic, then hold employees and subcontractors accountable for achieving the schedules
    • Supervise and manage the direct hiring and firing of employees and subcontractors directly related to the concrete operations.Train and groom employees so they can increase their skill set and grow with the company
    • Work with the project manager to schedule pours, pump trucks, material, and equipment delivery
    • Manage project man-hour budgets and material budgets
    • Work with project manager daily for scheduling changes and resource allocation
    • Manage daily the time logs of employees and the cost coding for phases
    • Check in and out materials and assets from the yard
    • Be familiar with scope of work and report any deviations to the project manager for change order protocol
    • Work with the estimation team on budgets for future work
