    Description

    We are looking for an experienced CLOUD PLATFORM ENGINEER as part of the core infrastructure team supporting our cloud automation efforts. The successful candidate will be part of the team that designs and automates workloads for our private and public cloud platforms. This role will enable our internal teams to deploy services rapidly, quickly diagnose and resolve issues, as well as elastically scale our infrastructure to meet the ever-growing needs of the business.

    This hands-on individual will have experience building out Dev, Test, QA, and Production infrastructure and application development pipelines (e.g. IaC, CI/CD, etc.), and building new tools and processes to automate and reduce time spent on manual tasks. Experience with initiating logging, monitoring, and security solutions for the suite of tools associated with this role is preferred.

    In addition, this candidate will have an understanding and experience with containerization concepts (e.g. Docker, Azure Kubernetes, etc.) to support migrating workloads and/or primarily Java applications to private or public cloud environments. Additionally this person will help create a culture of “automate everything” within their immediate team and extended teams.

    The successful candidate will have a high level of technical expertise related to understanding and leveraging Azure, as well as programming and orchestrating the deployment of Azure services. Finally, they will serve as a systems and cloud subject matter expert when assisting application development teams in designs that involve system or cloud architecture.

    ACCOUNTABILITIES

    Lead the engineering of automating workloads for public and private cloud services

    Assess feasibility for application cloud migrations and determine appropriate services to deploy (e.g. when to use serverless technologies vs. IaaS)

    Lead general cloud use by application developer.

    Engineer deployment strategies to automate the deployment of systems and applications in the cloud

    Work closely with application developers to engineer and deliver cloud services and solutions - on time and above expectations.

    Apply micro-service and containerization (e.g. Docker, AKS, etc.) concepts to practical application migrations to the cloud

    Implement, configure, maintain IS operations for cloud environments

    Leverage and build upon existing tools and implement supplemental/native cloud tools to monitor and alert on cloud services (e.g. performance, thresholds, capacity, etc.)

    Provide general support for our IT environment, covering Microsoft and Red Hat Linux operating systems, VMware, Nutanix AHV, and Azure cloud environment

    Critical thinking skills to detect and quickly resolve issues in a proactive manner

    Responsible for complex problem resolution, creating and improving procedures and facilitating communication.

    Provide troubleshooting and de-bugging support for cloud platform projects and initiatives.

    Ability to function in a DevOps, and Agile environment

    Rotating on-call for production support

    Train and lead existing team members on automation practices and be a champion for cloud initiatives

    EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

    High School Diploma or GED required. A Bachelor’s of Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or Mathematics preferred.

    Five or more years of overall experience in cloud computing technologies, cloud solution implementation, and emerging computing trends

    Three plus years of proven experience in automating workloads within enterprise clouds (IaC, DevOps, CI/CD)

    SKILLS & CERTIFICATIONS

    • · Certification or expertise in one or more cloud platforms (preferably Azure)

    • · Certification or proven experience in VMware

    • · Certification or demonstrated expertise in Docker or Kubernetes

    • · Demonstrated knowledge of IaaS, PaaS and virtualization technologies

    • · Experience working with serverless technologies (e.g. Azure Functions)

    • · Extensive experience with working with Infrastructure as Code and CICD initiatives

    • · Working knowledge with Agile development, SCRUM and Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) with one or more programming languages

    • · Oversight experience on major transformation projects and successful transitions to implementation support teams

    • · Demonstrated experience with tools such as: Ansible, Azure Automation, VSTM, GIT, Jenkins, Sonar, PowerShell DSC, Bash, etc.

    • · Proficiency with JSON, Python, Azure PowerShell, Azure CLI

    • · Experience in UNIX, Red Hat Linux and Windows operating systems

    • · Experience with performance tuning and troubleshooting

    • · Strong analytical and problem solving skills

    • · Strong organizational skills and multitasking ability

    • · Strong attention to detail skills

    • · Demonstrated ability to work in teams with a collaborative interpersonal style

    • · Good verbal and written communications skills with ability to document procedures effectively

    • · Ability to work weekends and after business hours

    • · Possess accurate keyboarding proficiency
