Reports to: Chief Operations Officer
The Fleet Mechanic manages the organization’s fixed assets including ambulances, wheelchair vans and other company vehicles. Develops and implements vehicle preventive maintenance programs. Manages fleet department budgets. Develops and maintains outside vendor and service provider relationships.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Manage all fixed assets including ambulances, wheelchair vans and other company vehicles.
- Oversee vehicle registration, licensure, and insurance coverages.
- Oversee preventative maintenance schedules on assets (vehicles, etc.) to ensure compliance with standards and protocols.
- Oversee vehicle replacement schedules including purchasing of new and used vehicles, changes to vehicle specifications.
- Manage vendor relationships and negotiating pricing/terms.
- Oversee fleet utilization analysis to maximize return on assets.
- Oversee fleet maintenance expense analysis to support replacement schedules and complete proper ROI analysis/return on capital.
- Participate in new base expansions and/or acquisition diligence requirements.
- Administrator support for fleet software (keeping parts warehouse current).
- Performs other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- ASE Certified
- 5+ years of mechanic experience required.
- 3+ years’ experience in fleet or asset inventory management.
- Proficient in Office products (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.)
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
Working conditions are in a mechanic garage type atmosphere. Physical requirements include lifting to 100lbs by yourself and 200lbs with assistance pounds. Subject to sitting, standing, squatting, leaning, laying under vehicles and walking for long periods of time. Requires speech, hearing and visual acuity.
