    Are you a California Payroll Professional looking for a great work/life balance and the ability to contribute to a positive team atmosphere? This may be your dream role! The Applied Companies is seeking a Payroll Supervisor for an internal position in the heart of Reno with hybrid potential. This position will be responsible for overseeing and supervising the organization's payroll functions, ensuring that pay is processed on time, accurately, and in compliance with government regulations for clients and worksite employees within the PEO division.

    What you will do:

    • Oversees procedures and processes related to preparation and distribution of payroll in Prism HR (HRIS)
    • Ensures compliance with federal, California and Nevada state, and local payroll, wage and hour laws and best practices.
    • Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations and changes to pay rates.
    • Facilitates audits by providing records and documentation to auditors.
    • Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff in the department.
    • Oversees the daily workflow of the payroll department.
    • Leads payroll team providing constructive and timely performance evaluations.
    • Puts in place systems where all details of a client's payroll is checked to identify any foreseeable consequence of work and addresses those when needed.
    • Demonstrates a high level of professionalism in dealing with confidential and sensitive issues.
    • Processes payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes and other deductions.
    • Maintains or oversees the maintenance of employee records.

    What you need to have:

    • Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, Human Resources, or related field preferred, or
    • An equivalent combination of education, training, ad at least fifteen (15) years of relevant professional employer organization and sales work experience required.
    • Seven (7) to ten (10) years of experience in payroll processing required with five (5) years in a supervisory or management role required.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate and deal effectively with a diverse group of individuals.
    • Strong interpersonal skills with flexibility and the willingness to take on projects as needed with enthusiasm while being committed to high standards.
    • Exhibits excellent customer service skills

    Additional Skills:

    • Demonstrated experience with HR/Payroll Management Software, Prism HR preferred.
