TAC is working with a valued client to fill a Temp-to-Hire position as a Safety Intern within the automobile industry. Located in North Reno, this is a support position where you'll learn on the job and be ready for the next step in your career.
Under the direction of the Safety Manager the Safety Intern is responsible for the support of the creation of a healthy and safe work environment. Provides technical safety and health support to production and office personnel. Develops plant safety and health programs and objectives and coordinates safety training programs. Monitors safety and health regulations and provides technical support to plant and office personnel to ensure compliance with federal and state safety and health regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Provides technical safety and health support and information to production and office personnel
- Participates in new product/process reviews, including process hazard analyses, operator training, etc.
- Supports corporate/plant engineering to implement engineering controls to minimize safety and occupational health hazards
- Supports plant personnel in selection of appropriate personal protective equipment
- Maintains corporate safety library (e.g., videos, regulations, reference manuals)
- Promotes safety and health awareness through internal company memoranda, newsletters and specific training programs
- Participates in company occupational safety and health committee
- Assists as necessary in implementation of a hazard communication program and preparation of reports
- Understands federal and state occupational safety and health regulations and monitors regulatory changes as they occur
- Provides technical support to corporate and plant personnel to ensure compliance with applicable occupational safety and health regulations
- Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas (5S)
- Follow all clean up and housekeeping procedures (5S)
- Ability to communicate and understand verbal and written instructions in English
- Perform other duties as assigned or required
Specific Knowledge and Skills Needed:
- In-depth knowledge of OSHA guidelines and practices
- Requires the ability to understand employee needs/feelings as it relates to safety and take action as needed to address concerns
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, use hands to fingers, handle, or touch objects, tools, or controls to work in a production environment
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds while moving files or manuals
- Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus to work
Monday - Friday; hours based on your availability
Rate of Pay: $15 - $18
