    Job Description: As a Maintenance Worker at our animal sanctuary, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the proper upkeep and functionality of the facility to support the well-being and safety of our resident animals. Your responsibilities will encompass a diverse range of tasks aimed at maintaining a clean, safe, and enriching environment for both animals and visitors.

    We are looking for a well-rounded, "jack of all trades” who can handle most types of home repairs, is comfortable working in close proximity to animals, & works well with on-the-fly changes to daily projects/priorities.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Facility Maintenance: Conduct regular inspections of buildings, enclosures, and grounds to identify maintenance needs and address them promptly. This includes repairing fences, gates, and structures to ensure the safety and security of animals.

    Landscaping and Groundskeeping: Maintain the sanctuary grounds by mowing lawns, trimming bushes, weeding gardens, and ensuring overall cleanliness. Create and maintain natural habitats and enrichment areas for animals.

    Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on equipment such as tractors, lawn mowers, and power tools to ensure they are in good working condition. Arrange for repairs or replacements when necessary.

    Assist with Special Projects: Collaborate with sanctuary staff on special projects such as construction of new enclosures, renovations, or landscaping improvements to enhance the sanctuary's facilities and operations.

    Emergency Response: Be available to respond to emergencies such as severe weather events, power outages, or medical incidents involving animals, and assist with evacuation procedures if necessary.

    Qualifications:

    General working knowledge of plumbing, carpentry, electric and HVAC is necessary.

    Previous experience in maintenance, landscaping, or a related field preferred.

    Passion for animal welfare and a commitment to providing the highest standard of care for sanctuary residents.

    Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy objects and operating machinery.

    Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing maintenance issues.

    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

    Willingness to adhere to safety protocols and procedures at all times.

    Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and occasional overtime as needed.

    Farm/ranch/landscape experience is a plus.
