    INVESTIGATIVE REPORTERS

THE CITY is seeking aggressive and ambitious investigative reporters to produce groundbreaking journalism that exposes corruption, wrongdoing, negligence and violations of public trust. These are 3 new positions devoted to deep digging that yields journalism that breaks new ground and has an impact on the lives of New Yorkers.

    THE ORGANIZATION

Launched in 2019, THE CITY is New York City's preeminent nonprofit, nonpartisan local news organization. Working across all five boroughs, our award-winning journalists bring diverse skills and backgrounds to the task of covering New York's neighborhoods, holding the powerful to account and making sense of the greatest city in the world.

Journalism by THE CITY uncovered the scheme that led to the indictment and resignation of New York's lieutenant governor, helped secure repairs in public housing, prompted solitary confinement reforms following the preventable death of a transgender woman on Rikers Island, and led to legislation addressing grueling working conditions of New York's delivery workers. During the COVID pandemic, THE CITY remedied inequities in vaccine access, prompted tougher oversight of emergency city contracts and led the Department of Education tocurtail child welfare investigations of families whose children lacked the technology to sign into online school.

THE CITY is in a growth phase that will add reporters and editors to our newsroom, strengthen our business capabilities and build our revenue-generating capacities.
