TIG Welder
Pay Rate: Negotiable based on experience and weld test
Shift: Days
Description:
- We are seeking a skilled TIG (GTAW) Welder to produce and repair precision, thin-gauge stainless steel and titanium components used in demanding service environments. This role supports the manufacture of high-reliability sealing components and related assemblies for regulated industries, where workmanship, documentation, and process discipline are critical.
Job Duties:
- Precision TIG welding (GTAW) on thin-gauge stainless steel and titanium using approved WPS/PQR requirements, with strong emphasis on heat control, distortion management, and cosmetic/structural quality.
- Set up and weld using fixtures, chill bars, purge dams, and argon back-purge techniques to ensure clean, oxide-free welds (especially on titanium).
- Perform weld repair/rework to specification while maintaining part integrity, traceability, and compliance to traveler/route documentation.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, weld symbols, and dimensional requirements; work closely with Engineering and Quality to resolve fit-up, joint design, and process issues.
- Complete required production records (travelers, weld logs, heat/lot traceability, filler material control) in support of customer, regulatory, and internal audits.
- Support inspection and verification activities, including collaboration with in-process/final inspection and First Article/Process Verification workflows.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe welding area; care for equipment (torches, gas lenses, flowmeters, purge setups) and perform routine preventative maintenance.
Preferred Work Experience:
- Prior experience welding in a NADCAP special-process environment (ideal) and working within an ISO 9001 / AS9100 quality management system.
- Comfort operating in a precision manufacturing setting with tightly controlled processes, documentation, and inspection requirements.
- Exposure to manufacturing for highly regulated end markets (e.g., aerospace, nuclear, power generation) is a plus.
Requirements:
- 3+ years of hands-on TIG welding experience, including thin-gauge stainless and titanium.
- Strong ability to produce clean, consistent welds in multiple positions with excellent bead profile and minimal discoloration/contamination.
- Ability to read prints and work to tight tolerances; solid knowledge of joint prep, fit-up, and welding parameters.
- Willingness to complete a practical weld test (stainless and titanium).
- Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 lbs (with assistance as needed), and work with PPE including welding helmet, respirator as required, gloves, and hearing protection.
