  • Responsibilities

    Responsibilities:

    • Hydrologic and hydraulic modeling of streams, rivers, drainage systems and other storm water conveyance features
    • Preparing reports, studies and designs related to hydrologic and hydraulic analysis
    • Working with senior H&H project managers/ engineers to learn and enhance modelingskills
    • Performing analysis for watershed projects such as no-rise studies, bridge hydraulic studies, and Culverts
    • Preliminary Engineering Reports (PER) / Engineering Letter Report (ELR) for Roadway and Neighborhood Street Redevelopment (NSR) projects for Storm and Open Ditch drainage systems, and Inlet Analysis

    Requirements:

    • BS degree in Civil Engineering/ Master’s degree is required from an ABET accredited program
    • Passed FE exam and either has a PE or is nearing completion of the Texas licensure requirements
    • 2 to 6 years of experience in H&H studies, floodplain impact analysis & mitigation design
    • Knowledge of local criteria in Houston area and vicinity, (COH, HCFCD, HCED, etc.) required
    • Prior experience in TxDOT bridge, watershed evaluation and hydraulic projects preferred
    • Prior work on FEMA studies (LOMR, C-CLOMR, LOMR-F, CLOMR-F, LOMA etc.) preferred

    Skills Desired:

    • AutoCAD Civil 3D experience required
    • HEC-HMS HEC-RAS (Steady & Unsteady), XP-SWMM/ EPA-SWMM/ InfoWorks software experience
    • Knowledge of hydrological methods HEC-HMS, Rational method, Small Watershed Method, SCS Hydrological Soils (NRCS) required
    • Experience in HouStorm, HY-8, HydraFlow Express, Autodesk Storm, OpenRoads SUDA preferred
    • ESRI Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software and extensions such as 3D Analyst, Spatial Analyst, HEC-GeoRAS, and HEC-GeoHMS experience preferred
    • Ability to prepare technical reports with supporting exhibits, tables, charts, and software output
    • Office software such as MS Office, Adobe Professional, Blue Beam etc. is required
    • Experience with HCFCD’s M3 System and submittal guidelines preferred
    • 2D analysis & modeling (HEC-RAS/ XPSWMM) software preferred
