    Job Summary:
    TLF is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Controller to join our dynamic team in the Direct-to-Consumer (D2C) sector facilitating managing our accounting department for our global ecommerce website (wwwTLFapparel.com), TLF’s custom app, and our global distribution facility in SFL HQ.

    This position will focus on financial management, budgeting, and strategic financial planning, ensuring the financial health and compliance of the organization with a specialized background in managing financial aspects related to Freight on Board (FOB), Delivered Duty Paid (DDP), and Landed Costs.

    The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in optimizing supply chain and logistics financial processes, ensuring accurate cost allocation, and driving operational efficiencies.

    Additionally, the Controller will be responsible for the oversight, preparation, analysis, and distribution of the company's financial statements, and manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting closing processes including variance analysis to ensure accurate, timely, and relevant financial reporting.

    This role is responsible for all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting (GAAP, Sarbanes Oxley), budget and forecast preparation/reconciliation/maintenance, as well as development of internal control policies and procedures. This position will provide direct supervision of the Senior Accountant, while providing indirect supervision of the accounting team.

    Job Description (Including but not limited to the below)

    ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES, ROLES, & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Financial Management:

    • Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and controls to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance,
    • Manage day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and reporting systems, ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements while maintaining accurate financial accounts.
    • Conduct regular financial analysis and provide insights to support decision-making processes.
    • Maintain internal control and safeguards for receipt of revenue, costs, expenses and budgets and track all variances weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annually.
    • Coordination with tax accountant on annual tax returns.
    • Coordinate, implement, and manage all audit activity to include the completion of annual financial audits.

    Financial Analysis & Reporting:

    • Consistently prepare, analyze financial data and submit monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports (i.e. Income statements, balance sheets, cash flow and P&L statements), and implement cost reduction analysis and reporting, while monitoring progress and changes, ensuring the CEO and senior management are kept abreast of all aspects of the company’s financial status.
    • Present financial reports to senior management, providing key insights and recommendations.
    • Utilize data science techniques to analyze financial data and extract actionable insights.
    • Develop predictive models to forecast financial trends and support strategic planning.
    • Manage the month end closing process and ensure all balance sheet accounts are reconciled monthly in a timely manner.

    Budgeting & Forecasting:

    • Collaborate with various departments to develop annual budgets and forecasts for the business and each department and division
    • Monitor and analyze budget variances, providing recommendations for corrective actions.
    • Apply data-driven methodologies to enhance budgeting and forecasting accuracy.
    • Incorporate business analytics to provide a deeper understanding of financial projections.

    Supply Chain Financial Management, Cost Allocation and Analysis:

    • Oversee and optimize financial processes and best practices related to FOB, DDP, and landed costs within the supply chain.
    • Collaborate with logistics and procurement teams to ensure accurate cost capture and reporting.
    • Develop and implement systems for precise allocation of costs associated with transportation, customs duties, and landed costs, and receipt of goods.
    • Ensure efficient and cost-effective processes are in place, analyze variances, and implement regular cost-saving initiatives within our supply chain, working in collaboration with the Innovation & Design Dept (which includes production, purchasing, and sourcing).

    Compliance:

    • Ensure sound financial controls based on Sarbanes Oxley requirements are established and maintained. Maintain adequate accounting systems access controls and ensure control of confidential and proprietary information.
    • Ensure compliance with local and international financial regulations and reporting requirements.
    • Work with external auditors to facilitate annual audits and address audit findings.
    • Ensure compliance with customs regulations and guidelines, working closely with customs brokers and relevant authorities.
    • Stay informed about changes in customs and import/export regulations that may impact financial processes.
    • Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings for nexus using Sovos.

    Vendor, Supplier, & Inventory Management:

    • Collaborate with cross department personnel, vendors, and suppliers to negotiate favorable terms and pricing structures.
    • Collaborate with cross department personnel to evaluate and help select logistics partners based on cost-effectiveness and service quality.
    • Work with the Distribution Team and Inventory Control Specialists to ensure daily, weekly, and monthly cycle counts are performed and inventory adjustments are tracked and documented in the financial records.

    Risk Management:

    • Identify and assess financial risks, proposing mitigation strategies to safeguard the organization's financial health.
    • Stay informed about changes in financial regulations and proactively adapt policies and procedures.

    Cross-functional Collaboration:

    • Collaborate with various departments, including operations, sales, and marketing, to understand business dynamics and provide financial support, KPI reporting, data analysis, and commission reconciliation, analysis, and reporting
    • Participate in strategic planning initiatives to align financial goals with overall business objectives.

    Management of NetSuite ERP, WMS, Shopify Plus, and App Ecosystem

    • Analyze and troubleshoot NetSuite’s ERP and WMS systems to ensure the A/P, A/R, purchasing, receiving, inventory management and control, and general ledge maintenance are all properly capturing and recording transactions, adjustments, and reconciliations, etc
    • Manage receipt of sales from Shopify Plus (website platform), and all related transactions, orders, order cancelations, refunds, credits, and inventory adjustments

    Management, Leadership, & Mentoring:

    • Maintain and grow the accounting dept staff as needed by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.
    • Lead by example as the Sr. Dept Manager, managing and mentoring all accounting dept personnel.

    Continuous Improvement:

    • Identify opportunities for process improvement within the finance and accounting functions.
    • Implement best practices to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
    • Complete special projects and other duties as assigned by management.

    EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND CREDENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS:

    • Bachelors or Masters Degree in Accounting and/or Finance.
    • Licensed CPA and/or CA not required but highly preferred
    • Public accounting experience required
    • Minimum of 7 years of business experience as a Controller or CFO in Ecommerce/Direct to Consumer retail environments
    • Minimum of 2 years using Shopify Plus (or similar web platform)
    • Experience using Netsuite ERP and Netsuite’s WMS (Warehouse Management System) (or similar ERP systems i.e. SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, JD Edwards)
    • Minimum of 5 years experience in Cost Accounting and Inventory Management
    • Experience with Big Query, Google Data Studio, and Looker strongly preferred
    • Experience setting up and managing API’s
    • Proven Accounting Management skills
    • Advance proficiency in Excel and Google Sheets
    • Proficient in MS Office applications: Word, PowerPoint, Outlook,
    • Proficient in Asana for project and task management and employee performance tracking and accountability
    • Strong time management skills and the ability to work as a team player and follow direction
    • Solid process improvement skills and a proven change agent.
    • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written in English (other languages are a plus)
    • Previous experience managing substantial budgets
    • Highly proficient with data analysis and KPI’s
    • High attention to detail, detail-oriented and deadline-driven
    • Ability to multitask, work in an extremely busy environment and remain positive and productive
    • Self-starter; effective in managing projects from the ground up
    • Highly skilled in performance management
