    Job Description

    Are you looking for the next step in your property accounting career? This position located in Costa Mesa will give you experience in commercial real estate and the opportunity to work for one of the leading REIT's with over 50 years experience in the commercial real estate field. This Director of Asset Management Accounting will be responsible for supervising the accounting manager/staff and managing the day to day financial reporting function, cash management, and budget process.

    Job Functions Include:

    Establishing and monitoring policies, procedures, and goals for the Asset Management Accounting Department. Working with Property Managers and Vice Presidents-Asset Management to establish accounting-related operational controls at centers. Recognizing and understanding technical accounting and potential REIT tax-related issues and researches and resolves these issues as they occur throughout the year. Conducting research on accounting literature to ensure policies and procedures are appropriate for accurate financial reporting. Ensuring distribution of monthly financial statements to management on a timely basis. Reviewing annual budgets for operating centers and ensures distribution to management on a timely basis. Monitoring cash management for all operating centers with stand-alone bank accounts. Overseeing review of annual year-end reconciliations of operating centers and ensures reconciliation is in accordance with lease agreements. Liaison between Asset Management Accounting and outside Property Tax Consultants overseeing all property tax issues including enrollment of new construction and acquisition and appeals. Working with Development and Construction Departments to coordinate smooth transition of projects from Construction to Asset Management Accounting Department. Overseeing, coordinating, and resolving tenant audits. Assisting in coordinating the sale or acquisition of operating properties. Working with other inter-department management on special projects, as requested. Overseeing hiring of Asset Management Accounting personnel.

    Requirements:

    • Bachelors Degree- Accounting Concentration Preferred
    • 5+ years experience in commercial real estate accounting
    • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office and MRI
    • CPA- preferred
