    Job Description

    JOB SUMMARY:

    We are searching for an Accountant/Payroll and Benefits Specialist with General Ledger and Payroll experience to join the Accounting and Finance department of a growing Healthcare Company. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Performs general ledger, accounts payable, payroll, and accounts receivable functions for multiple healthcare related entities.

    • Performs payroll related responsibilities and is the back-up to the Payroll Specialist. 
    • Reviews payroll and prepares bi-weekly payroll reports.
    • Maintains payroll/benefits related reconciliations and works with the HR department and insurance companies to manage and appropriately account for all benefits/benefit deductions.
    • Manages and reconciles employee pay cards.
    • Prepares payroll journal entries and posts/uploads into the accounting software.
    • Reconciles payroll related general ledger accounts and resolves discrepancies.
    • Assists with audit and tax work papers and all other financial compliance requests and returns.
    • Performs responsibilities in full compliance with standards, policies, and procedures.
    • Works with accounting and finance team to continuously improve processes and procedures relating to the payroll, benefits and accounting function.
    • Research and special projects as needed.

    JOB REQUIREMENTS:

    • Degree in Accounting strongly preferred.
    • At least 3 years of experience in general ledger accounting and/or payroll and benefits.
    • Experience performing the accounting/payroll functions for multiple locations is a plus.
    • Experience working for a Small or Medium sized company a plus.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects at a time while maintaining flexibility.
    • Experience with Microsoft Office – Word, Excel (Intermediate/Advanced a MUST). 
    • Must be able to be self sufficient at extracting system data and manipulating it/analyzing it in excel to audit, identify issues, and resolve problems.
    • Self-starter who can work independently and consistently meet deadlines.
    • Strong interpersonal and communications skills.
    • Must have strong problem- solving skills with the ability to think outside of the box.
    • Detail oriented and organized.
    • Desire to focus on continuous improvement and professional growth.
