SYSTEMS ENGINEER – NAVSEA
POSITION DESCRIPTION
- Assists with developing software solutions by analyzing user information needs; studying systems flow, data usage, and work processes; investigating problem areas; following Agile and systems development lifecycle processes.
- Analyzes engineering change proposals to determine the effect on the overall system.
- Suggests enhancements to software code for efficiency.
- Documents solutions by developing high-level documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, and enforcing code documentation standards.
- Evaluate system readiness for production environment by reviewing system specifications, standards, and programming.
- Recommends changes in policies and procedures when requested.
- Updates job knowledge by studying development tools, programming techniques, and computing equipment; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
- Provides information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing development and service issues.
- Evaluates data flow, database tables, database relationships and support the configuration and installation of database solutions of the various NAVSEA applications.
REQUIRED CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS
- One year of related work experience.
- BS Degree preferably in the area of Engineering, Physics, Network Security, Information Systems or Computer Science. MS Degree can substitute work experience requirement.
- Knowledge of Agile/Scrum software development environment, Waterfall, and the DevOps methodology.
- Experience and/or course work in database management, data structures, software programing languages.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products.
- Must possess excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Must be highly organized, able to manage and maintain many clients simultaneously.
- Experience performing detailed technical analysis and documenting results.
- CANDIDATE MUST CURRENTLY POSSESS OR BE ABLE TO OBTAIN AND MAINTAIN A SECRET SECURITY CLEARANCE.
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
ADDITIONAL DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledge of NAVSEA IT systems supporting the Navy Shipyards, Regional Maintenance Centers (RMCs) and/or other shore-based fleet maintenance activities.
- Experience in Department of Defense (DoD) maintenance, logistics, and business system projects to include one or more of the following: Engineering, Systems Analysis, Information Assurance, Requirements Analysis, Database Administration, System Administration, Release Management and System Architecture support.
