    SBP is a preeminent, independent biomedical research institute dedicated to understanding human biology and disease, and advancing scientific discoveries to profoundly impact human health.     Responsible for the procurement of scientific and administrative supplies and services as requested. The position is responsible for all follow up related to the orders, including confirmation of receipt, resolving discrepancies, expediting back orders and any other matters. This position assists in the day to day operations of the department as directed by the Sourcing Manager. 

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Takes ownership of any and all requisitions for common lab supplies found in the eProcurement system, Jaggaer.
    • Processes requisitions to purchase orders within 24 hours of assignment to buyer
    • Obtains confirmation of receipt of purchase orders by supplier
    • Runs weekly backorder reports and works with supplier and requester on any discontinued or cancelled orders
    • Places orders, completes all necessary follow-up, and meets delivery commitments
    • Orders hazardous and/or DEA approved materials as needed in partnership with EH&S
    • Resolves Service Now tickets assigned to them in a timely manner
    • Works with vendors, Shipping & Receiving, and end users to manage returns and mis-shipments
    • Procures items for the internal stockroom
    • Clearly communicates issues and needs in a timely basis to avoid crisis situations
    • Suggests improvements and coordinates as appropriate on cross-departmental solutions
    • Negotiates with suppliers’ customer service representatives on all levels of complexity to obtain the best value on all orders
    • Works with orders from low-medium fiscal impact

    Required Skills Required Experience

    • Requires a High School diploma and two years’ experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been attained.
    • Some college level coursework preferred

    • Understanding of procurement systems and the related software to support day-to-day activities
