JOB SUMMARY:
The Manager PTC (Positive Train Control) Service Assurance and Support is responsible for managing and leading a team of PTC application engineers. The team is organized into three major focus areas, each specializing in a particular technology area of the PTC solution: back-office applications, wayside and messaging systems applications, and locomotive applications. Specific duties include assigning and monitoring tasks for participation in various projects, as well as coordinating support for 24X7 production operations. A critical responsibility of the position is to ensure all three areas of the engineering team develop solutions that are consistent with the strategic technology guidelines and architecture, ensuring a robust solution that is both readily supportable and also in compliance with interoperable industry specifications and standards.
JOB DUTIES:
- Plans, assigns and directs the activities of the PTC Service Assurance and Support team.
- Coordinates all resource load planning for team participation on critical projects.
- Partners with the Project Management and Business Analysis teams who are dependent on team resources for critical projects.
- Manages the 24X7 support for PTC Revenue Service operations, while ensuring compliance with federal hours of service regulations.
- Coordinates closely with PTC Incident Management to facilitate resolution to critical issues and provide orchestration of activities among the various contributors.
- Works closely with the PTC Enterprise Architect to ensure solutions developed by the team are consistent with the strategic architecture, and that they also provide a robust, supportable solution that remains compliant with published industry interoperability standards.
- Partners with the PTC Enterprise Architect to develop solution review documentation for select projects.
- Ensures all project work is managed within the appropriate governance processes and controls.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college, preferably in a job related major field of study such as Computer Science or Engineering
- Minimum seven (7) years of relevant professional experience, including leading and managing projects or programs with outcome focused deliverables, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum five (5) years of experience specifically in Information Technology
- Minimum one (1) year of experience directly or indirectly leading a team
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
- Master’s degree in a technical discipline
- Three (3) year of supervision or management of technology engineering professionals
CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Project Management Institute – Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred
