    The Controller is responsible for the overall management of the accounting and financial reporting functions of Kinecta Federal Credit Union and its subsidiaries. Works closely with the CFO and members of the leadership team to implement policies, procedures and action plans that support the strategic direction of the credit union. The Controller will provide leadership and guidance to accounting and financial reporting functions. These responsibilities include ensuring that proper controls, policies, and procedures are in place to maintain the integrity of Kinecta Federal Credit Union’s financial data, records, and assets, producing timely and accurate consolidated financial statements, preparing variance and trend reporting to support performance analysis and decision making, preparing and supporting regulatory call reporting, providing primary oversight over external auditors, and supervising staff.

     

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

     

    The Controller typically oversees the following functions:

     

    • Financial reporting
    • Regulatory reporting
    • General ledger operations
    • Subsidiary accounting and payables
    • Oversight of external audit engagement activities
    • Support of all related internal audit and compliance
    • Support of relevant Organizational committees and subcommittees

     

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Prepares and oversees preparation of financial statements and detailed analysis
    • Prepares management reports as necessary for supporting the needs of the Board of Directors, the CEO and CFO, as well as various committees and business unit leaders within the organization
    • Serves as primary contact for external auditors, internal auditors and regulators relative to Kinecta’s financial operations
    • Serves on various committees as necessary to support the financial operations of the Organization
    • Ensures accounting operations meet performance standards set by the Board, management, Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB), and relevant regulatory agencies
    • Assesses the impact of new and/or potential regulatory and accounting pronouncements relative to the organization’s financial operations. Ensures Kinecta’s compliance with such pronouncements
    • Evaluates technology and makes recommendations to improve productivity and reduce overhead, if necessary
    • Sets benchmarking standards in place for all measurable processes
    • Drives process improvement and seeks ways to improve operational efficiencies

     

    Required Skills

    • Ability to perform highly detailed work on multiple, concurrent tasks
    • Ability to work under intensive deadlines

    Required Experience

    EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

     

    Potential candidates for this position must meet the following requirements:

     

    • Bachelors’ degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
    • MBA or CPA credential is required
    • Minimum five years’ experience as Controller or similar in a similar size or larger financial organization or equivalent
