  • Responsibilities

    JOB SUMMARY

    Oversees train operations and is responsible for the safe and efficient movement of all trains for an assigned terminal. Ensures the safety of crews and meets operational and financial targets as outlined by the Transportation Service Plan (TSP) and associated KPI's (key performance indicators). Analyzes past results, forecasts and plans extensively, and recommends process improvements.

    Works on complex issues where analysis requires advanced analytical thought and judgment. Develops functional plans, including business, operational, and financial priorities that contribute to business unit strategy. Establishes and assures adherence to budgets, schedules, work plans and performance requirements. Translates company and business unit objectives into functional plans and guides execution. Directs the operations of a segment of our rail network through a team comprised of field managers. Directs the progress toward efficient completion of field-oriented projects and jobs. Participates in the interview and selection process, provides training and mentorship, offers career development guidance, and is engaged in performance management. Provides timely and constructive coaching and feedback; develops staff and provides challenging opportunities. Reports to a people leader at a higher career level.

     

    JOB DUTIES

    • Analyzes historical results, plans, and drives the safe performance of activities related to make-up and operation of trains.
    • Facilitates employee meetings and programs to emphasize safety and discuss safety risks.
    • Reviews, applies, and contributes to the design and development of the TSP and executes work orders.
    • Executes emergency response plans by immediately reporting and responding to emergency incidents.
    • Arranges for investigations of train delays, derailments, accidents, injuries, and damage to company property or equipment and completes accountability reports.
    • Performs frequent inspections of yards, equipment, property and facilities and takes action to improve conditions.
    • Ensures Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) drug testing requirements are met.
    • Grows relationships, communicates regularly, and is an effective partner with internal and external customers.
    • Makes recommendations regarding hiring, performance, training, and termination of staff.
    • Exemplifies KCS Vision, Values, and Culture in each and every interaction with team, clients, and stakeholders.

     

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college, preferably in a job related major field of study
    • Minimum ten (10) years of relevant professional experience, including leading and managing complex projects or programs with outcome focused deliverables, or equivalent combination of education and experience
    • Minimum three (3) years of managerial experience

     

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Leadership experience in the Railroad or Transportation industry
    • Background in Industrial Engineering, Transportation or Logistics

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    1. Underwrites minimum 4 loans a day.
    2. Follows loan underwriting methods established for adherence to the Credit Union’s policies, procedures and documentation requirements.
    3. Calculates and verifies member’s income, assets and liabilities, and evaluates loan-to-value ratios
    4. Ability to assess member’s creditworthiness and ability to repay loan.
    5. Analyzes complex financials including 1040 Federal Income tax returns, business tax returns including 1120S Sub-Chapter S corporation returns, 1120 corporate returns, and 1065 LLC and partnership returns. Develops income from complex financials that can be considered for qualifying purposes.
    6. Reviews credit report, title report, appraisal, and escrow instructions for accuracy upon receipt. Structures and submits loan for PMI approval (if required).
    7. Validates accurate early regulatory disclosures have been issued to the member/loan applicant within the regulatory time frames established. .
    8. Reviews, validates and/or inputs member information into the credit union’s loan operating system with accuracy and accountability.
    9. Inputs loan conditions into the credit union’s loan operating system and generates all necessary approval documents including income analysis worksheet.
    10. Disposition loan files within Credit Approval authority limits
    11. Obtains second signature loan approval and recommends underwriting exception approval when warranted.
    12. Communicates loan decision (approval, suspenses, and declines) to all appropriate parties within designated turn time.
    13. Performs accurate HMDA disposition of cancelled and declined loans in compliance with Regulation B and all other pertinent Regulatory requirements
    14. Reviews and signs off requested prior to doc loan conditions within designated turn time and meets program/product specifications.
    15. Provide exemplary customer service to all parties involved in order to facilitate a prompt, efficient closing of loans
    16. Manages individual pipeline to ensure timely turn time.
    17. Responds to internal and investor audits in a timely manner
    18. Reviews Compliance Manual, Loan Policy & Procedure Manual , Program Matrices, and Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae Seller’s & Servicers Guide.
    19. Assists the Mortgage Loan Supervisor/Underwriting Manager in the evaluation of policies and procedures, recommends changes and assists in the implementation of new procedures when appropriate.
    20. Assists all Underwriters/Jr Underwriters/Processors with underwriting procedures, investors’ guidelines and compliance issues.
