    SUMMARY:

    Leads the Service Design team in Mexico to develop and implement transportation strategies and solutions within the Network in support of future and current customer needs through operational efficiencies and asset optimization. The Sr. Manager works closely with executive and functional organization leadership to identify the most efficient plan for all traffic on the network. They are responsible for leading and driving change through people, systems and processes to continuously develop innovative solutions and ensure excellence in cost, quality and service. This role is critical and is the key point of contact for the KCSM SVP Operations and provides any and all service design consultation. Key to success is cohesive work amongst operating, planning and sales groups to ensure efficient and cost effective Transit Sustainability Program (TSP) for the network.

    JOB DUTIES:

    • Leads all aspects of development, maintenance, change management and administration of TSP for KCSM, including strategic initiatives, big picture corporate objectives and economic factors impacting the business.
    • Leads efforts to troubleshoot and improve on current TSP and guide the team through implementation of Precision Scheduled Railroad (PSR) principles.
    • Exemplifies a continuous improvement mindset and holds accountability in high regard to drive KCS toward excellence.
    • Drives accountability within the team as well as the Transportation, and Sales and Marketing areas of the company to execute the active TSP.
    • Collaborates with functional leaders of Transportation, Sales and Marketing, Finance and Engineering areas of the company to ensure planning and execution of TSP.
    • Develops strong relationships with other carriers in order to establish integrated solutions for our customers.
    • Supports the Transportation team in the National Operations Center (NOC) in order to continue to develop adherence to TSP and to improve on execution.
    • Establishes and maintains a team that drives innovative idea generation and flexibility in developing solutions. Provides coaching and mentoring for all team members.
    • Communicates at a professional leadership level within the Service Design team and KCS as a corporation.
    • Exemplifies KCS Vision, Values, and Culture in each and every interaction with team, clients, and stakeholders.

     

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college, preferably in Engineering, Finance, Business, Mathematics, Management or another related discipline of study
    • Minimum of ten (10) years of relevant professional experience, including leading and managing complex projects or programs with outcome focused deliverables, or equivalent combination of education and experience
    • Minimum of eight (8) years of experience in transportation and logistics, preferably with five or more years of that experience with the railroad
    • Minimum three (3) years of managerial experience
    • Proficiency in English and Spanish languages
    • Or equivalent combination of education and experience

     

    PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

    • Master's degree from an accredited university or college

     

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    • Both domestic & international travel required, as needed up to 25%

    • Working PC knowledge, windows preferred and related applications.
    • Knowledge in the area of sales, customer service, business development, branch administration and products and services in order to integrate concepts and theories.
    • Good communication skill – both written and orally. Bi-lingual proficiency may be required.
    • Problem solving skills.
    • Ability for conceptual thinking and working knowledge of other major areas of the Credit Union.
    • Ability to integrate and communicate information on a one-on-one basis as well as in group situations and in writing.
    • Ability to provide effective leadership and guidance to staff.
