Job Description
POSITION OVERVIEW: The Product Engineer (PE) is responsible for supporting the development and continuous improvement of electric vehicle systems. The PE will work closely with all functions in the production facility and engineering development team to meet product function, cost, timing, and quality objectives. They will interface directly with customers and be responsible to resolve issues related to product function or quality. They will serve as the primary interface between engineering and operations for all technical aspects of the product.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Work directly with program management and functional team members to meet product deliverables for cost timing and quality.
· Support customer communications related to approval and implementation of engineering design changes.
· Manage the implementation of engineering changes and deviations internally and externally.
· Ensure bill of materials are correct for all builds, ensure parts meet all technical requirements, support operations with build readiness and build execution.
· Coordinate, plan, and direct technical activities providing hands-on support to the operations team and engineering lab.
· Coordinate and lead Engineering and Production Trial Run builds on the production assembly line.
· Lead technical issue resolution and document process, actions, and results, provide escalation, as necessary.
· Verify product functional performance for pre-production and production assemblies
REQUIREMENTS PROFILE:
· Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electromechanical Engineering or equivalent required.
· Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or Electromechanical Engineering preferred
· 2-5 years of experience with mechanical, mechatronic and hydraulic subsystems.
· Prior driveline engineering experience required.
· EV/Hybrid Knowledge and Experience strongly preferred.
· MS Office, NI LabVIEW, and Vector CAN tools experience
· Proficient knowledge of engineering principles, GD&T, CAD, DVP&R, APQP and manufacturing processes.
· 2-5 years of experience in SolidWorks or Creo
· Team Center Experience a plus
· High voltage battery systems design experience strongly preferred.
