The Production Operator, under the direction of the Production Shift Supervisor, will be responsible for learning to run an extrusion line(s) within their designated shift. The Production Operator will be required to learn and demonstrate considerable skills, knowledge and experience related to running an extrusion line and all associated equipment within a large, 24/7 manufacturing environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Contributes to accident free operations and compliance to all health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements and regulations
- Learns importance of and practice ownership of SUR (Scrap/Utilization/Rate) metrics and Quality results for assigned line(s)
- Learns and practices starting, operating, maintaining and shutting down extrusion and down-line equipment
- Completes daily duties in accordance with workplace organization and efficiency methodologies, such as TPM and 6S
- Monitors performance of quality critical equipment and ensures that equipment operates to specifications
- Assists with die changes and color changes
- Learns and practices adherence to the Bills of Process (BOP) standards
- Learns and accurately completes Quality Check paperwork.
- Learns and accurately completes hourly color checks
- Learns and accurately completes hourly part checks
- Learns and practices proper color set-point controls
- Responsible for detailed completion of production operator reports
- Learns and demonstrates identification of defects and completion of work orders for repair
- Assists in packaging of product when needed
- Operates in a manner that provides value to the team
- Performs additional duties as needed and/or assigned by supervision/management
Required Skills
- High School Diploma or GED, required
- Meet qualification and certification requirements established by Azek's Training Resources and Knowledge (TRAK) program
- Demonstrated understanding of how process equipment works
- Strong decision making, analytical skills and proven ability to work cross-functionally
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem solving abilities
- Must be self-directed and motivated and able to multi-task in fast-paced, 24/7 manufacturing environment
- Work schedule flexibility, with or without notice, to accommodate the needs of the business
