The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) is a non-profit, bipartisan public policy organization established in 1962 to provide strategic insights and practical policy solutions to decision makers concerned with global security and prosperity. The iDeas Lab, the award-winning creative and digital production department at CSIS, seeks a highly motivated and creative self-starter to join our dynamic and fast-paced environment as an Associate Multimedia Producer starting immediately.

The multimedia producer will partner with our experts and the department on a range of video and podcast projects covering the spectrum of CSIS’ issue areas. The iDeas Lab enhances CSIS's policy research and analysis with the latest in cutting-edge web development, design, video, and audio. (You can see some of our latest at ideaslab.csis.org) The multimedia producer will work closely with the department on creative projects that tell compelling public policy stories, partnering with some of the most respected foreign policy experts and researchers. This is an ideal opportunity for video and audio storytellers who are eager to bring complex policy issues to life across multiple platforms and who are innovation-driven.

Beyond having experience with all aspects of video and audio production, the successful candidate will possess sharp news acumen, virtual media, excellent writing/editorial skills, communication and organization skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced and innovative environment while meeting tight deadlines. Additionally, the successful candidate will be a team player while also having independent self-direction. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS MAY INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

• Produce and develop audio projects from start to finish, including scripting, recording, editing, compiling, finding supplementary audio assets, and all other aspects of production for interview-based policy-oriented podcasts. • Produce, and develop video projects from start to finish, including scripting, filming, editing, compiling, developing visual/audio assets, and all other aspects of policy-oriented videos. • Support digital outreach efforts and produce related multimedia products, in particular short videos, working closely with External Relations and CSIS programs. • Support other multimedia producers as needed, including assisting with recordings or production elements as needed. • Work closely with iDeas Lab staff and relevant departments and research programs to develop and produce multimedia for CSIS projects to suit stated goals and needs; communicating effectively with non-technical stakeholders and in a virtual/remote environment is critical. • Post and curate video and audio content to CSIS website, other project sites when relevant, social media platforms, and other content-delivery networks (e.g. YouTube and a range of audio platforms). • Other duties and projects as needed.

KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE:

• B.A./B.S/A.B. in relevant field; • Minimum one year of relevant experience, including previous multimedia, video and audio production; • Some background in journalism and broadcast media; • Knowledge and experience in applicable software and computer applications, including Adobe Creative Suite and proficiency in Adobe Audition; • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills; including effectively presenting information to non-technical partners, operating in a fast-paced environment and managing competing priorities; • Strong attention to detail, initiative, and follow through skills; • Flexible, positive, collaborative, action-oriented attitude and professional approach; • Strong interest in global affairs and public policy; • Sound judgement, maturity, and discretion.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK CONDITIONS:

Required Skills Required Experience

High School Diploma or equivalent. Working toward a CDA and 12 credits in ECE Have access to reliable, insured transportation. Must have or obtain and maintain CT child care first-aid, and infant and child CPR, and medication administration certification. Provide a TVCCA Staff Statement of Good Health statement signed by a physician, physician’s assistant, or nurse practitioner completed within twelve (12) months before the date of employment, and every twenty-four (24) months for current staff. Provide a written report of negative tuberculin test completed within twelve (12) months prior to the date of employment, or for a known prior reactor, no evidence of active tuberculosis on a chest x-ray. Must be able to lift and/or carry a child up to 50lbs. Continue professional development per funding.

Hours vary between 7:00am-5:00pm Monday-Friday/ 35 hours work week guaranteed to cover center operational hours.

Minimum of 18 years of age.
