    The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) is a non-profit, bipartisan public policy organization established in 1962 to provide strategic insights and practical policy solutions to decision makers concerned with global security and prosperity. Over the years, it has grown to be one of the largest organizations of its kind, with a staff of some 200 employees, including more than 120 analysts working to address the changing dynamics of international security across the globe.

     

    JOB SUMMARY

    The Research Intern will provide research and administrative support to the staff of the Global Health Policy Center. This is a 3-month position.

     

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Provide on-call research to support preparation for meetings, events, publications, and research trips. • Provide logistical support to ensure that Global Health Policy Center private and public events run smoothly by: assisting with room setup and guest registration, taking notes during the event, and running microphones during the Q&A session. • Attend relevant global health events in Washington, D.C. and provide a summary to Global Health Policy Center staff. • Consult a wide variety of news services and peer reviewed journals and prepare memos to brief Global Health Policy Center staff. • Other duties as assigned.

     

    KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE:

    • Must be a rising junior or senior undergraduate, recent graduate, or graduate student. • Demonstrated interest and understanding of global health issues, particularly U.S. global health policy. • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. • Ability to work in a team environment. • Proficiency with entire Microsoft Office Suite.

    • Perform data analysis, investigate nonconformance root cause, stock sweep, and identify any action required and lead problem solving initiatives.
    • Lead enforcement initiatives of all Piper Aircraft requirements to include Process Specifications, Quality Procedures, Quality Instructions, and Standard Manufacturing Procedures.
    • Initiate, follow up, and record corrective action in company database.
    • Support the Quality Inspectors and Manufacturing to ensure that products and processes comply with the relevant requirements of the Quality Management System and Engineering Type Design.
    • Analyze failures promptly to respond to customer complaints (external/internal)
    • Demonstrate excellent written & oral communication skill. Participates in meetings to represent Quality objectives.
    • Exhibit objectivity and openness to others’ views. Give and welcome feedback.
    • Interface with Engineering and Operations to ensure production of products are in accordance with approved data.
    • Evaluate Piper Process Specifications (PPS), engineering drawings, and other acceptance criteria to verify quality characteristics or functions.
    • Conduct audits of product or process, including closing out audit findings, creating audits findings reports and determine proper corrective and preventive actions.
    • Respond to Quality Concerns as they are submitted by production to investigate for corrective actions.
    • Work with other engineering groups as necessary (manufacturing, industrial, and process engineers) in order to implement corrective actions as necessary to prevent quality escapes and improve manufacturability of Piper Aircraft parts and assemblies.
    • Monitor Non-Conforming Material reports for trends and implement corrective actions as necessary in order to decrease non-conforming articles.
    • Assist in FAA Principal Inspector Audits as necessary to support FAA regulatory oversight of Production.
    • Other duties as assigned by Quality Management.
