    Taylor University is seeking applications of candidates for ASSISTANT FOOTBALL COACH -DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR. This is a FULL-TIME, 10 MONTH EXEMPT POSITION located in Upland, Indiana.  Resumes will be accepted until position is filled.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:     

    The assistant coach for the football program will be responsible for assisting the head coach in the mentoring of student athletes in a competitive environment while upholding the mission and vision of the football program, the athletic department and Taylor University.  The largest portion of the job responsibilities will be to assist with the instruction, teaching and evaluation of skills as instructed by the head coach. Other duties will include:  specified position assignment, assistance with game preparation, practice plan development, game film breakdown, scheduling, opponent evaluation, strategy development, recruiting and overall spiritual development and discipleship of the student athletes.

     

    This position operates under the direct supervision of the head coach however some autonomy and individual judgement may be required or expected.  Other duties would include:  attendance at all departmental meetings, reading and operating according to the policies and procedures of the athletic department, communication and effective collaboration with the sports information and athletic training departments.

     

    A portion of this position’s full-time role will be additional duties with the athletic department as assigned. 

     

    EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:   

    This position must hold a Bachelor’s degree however a Master’s degree would be preferred.

    The minimum level of experience would be no less than one to three years of assistant coaching experience at either the collegiate/high school level.

    Required Skills

    REQUIRED: 

    This individual must have football coaching experience and be committed to a Christian lifestyle and coaching perspective.  They should be able to demonstrate the ability to mentor and motivate student-athletes in the areas of skill development, and spiritual development. 

    PREFERRED:

    It would be preferred that this individual would have collegiate coaching experience particularly with the football position that they are assigned and be able to demonstrate knowledge and/or experience with the development of an effective competitive and recruiting strategy that fits within the NAIA, League regulations and mission of the university.
