TRI POINTE GROUP IS LOOKING FOR AN EXPERIENCED, ENTHUSIASTIC INDIVIDUAL TO JOIN OUR TALENTED GROUP AS A COST ACCOUNTANT IN OUR HOME OFFICE LOCATED IN IRVINE, CA.

POSITION HIGHLIGHTS: This position will own the responsibility to perform all the accounting related to homebuilding project budgets. All accounting will be made in full coordination with the divisions’ finance department.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Coordinate with the divisions periodically to record unit statistics (i.e. Starts, Completions, Orders, Cancellations)
• Setup jobs and communities as assigned in coordination with the divisions’ finance department
• Participate in divisions’ budget meeting
• Enter project budgets in ERP system
• Coordinate the review of open commitments on closed homes with the divisions
• General review of project costs for properly coding and classification and prepare any adjusting entries as needed
• Write-off cancelled deals as needed
• Allocate payroll costs to projects
• Code expense reports from credit cards to proper account classification
• Prepare commissions expense entry
• Run the month end journal entries for job cost (i.e. Cost Allocations, Profit Recognition, Model Fixed Assets, Model Depreciation, WIP)
• Review and maintain construction status of jobs
• In coordination with the divisions’ finance department perform a profit margin review on closed homes for the current period
• Prepare and distribute month end reports to divisions
• Maintain internal control structure as it pertains to job costing
• Assist in the audit process as assigned
• Support divisions in the business plan preparation as needed
• Perform special projects as assigned
• Assist in various efforts to improve the efficiency surrounding the data collection and reporting by developing automated processes and applications
• Other duties as assigned.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: 

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• A minimum of 2 years of successful experience in a Cost Accountant position or other related field required.
• Public Accounting experience, minimum of two years, is preferred.
• Demonstrate strategic and creative thinking ability.
• Proficient Excel skills
• Knowledge of U.S. GAAP and SOX.
• Knowledge of JD Edwards and Hyperion is a plus.
• Knowledge of homebuilding experience is a plus.
• Demonstrate a high level of attention to detail.
• Demonstrate problem solving and decision-making skills.
• Proven team player with the ability to guide and influence cross-functional teams
• Ability to effectively organize and prioritize multiple tasks.
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
