    The Senior Manager is responsible for advancing the mission of Share Our Strength and its No Kid Hungry campaign by managing public relations activities that raise awareness of the No Kid Hungry brand among a national consumer audience. The Senior Manager will lead earned and paid media relations activities to support No Kid Hungry’s goal to end childhood hunger in America and Share Our Strength's broader mission to end hunger and poverty.

     

    • Develop and execute a strategic vision for national consumer media relations for No Kid Hungry.
    • Oversee and support national media relations activities, including national and local news coverage in entertainment, celebrity, culinary, business, philanthropy, and general lifestyle press.
    • Manage Associate, National Consumer Media, in his/her responsibilities.
    • Manage national PR agency and other consultants as needed.
    • Support priority fundraising initiatives and programmatic campaigns through strategic media outreach. This includes help in the development and implementation of partner-led integrated communications and cause marketing activities that elevate issue awareness and spur action among corporate partners and their customers.
    • Oversee and execute thought leadership campaign that builds the Share Our Strength brand.
    • Develop and execute PR plans to support priority culinary events with top No Kid Hungry celebrity supporters in attendance.
    • Counsel No Kid Hungry corporate partners on media outreach to promote cause marketing initiatives.
    • Build and oversee relationships with media partners at the national and local level.  
    • Work with Director, Media & Public Affairs to translate policy and advocacy efforts for consumer media, when applicable.
    • Craft, edit and approve talking points, speeches, press releases, and other media-facing materials.

    Required Skills

    • Bachelor’s degree, and 6-8 years of experience in communications, marketing, public relations or related discipline for corporations or non-profits.
    • Outstanding experience implementing multifaceted communications campaigns.
    • Demonstrated execution of consumer PR with high-profile brands.  
    • Hands-on experience working with consumer media, including print, online, radio and television reporters and producers.
    • Existing relationships with national reporters.
    • Understanding of and demonstrated experience with new media, including podcasts.
    • Strong writer, with experience writing press releases and pitches, talking points, marketing collateral copy, blog posts, and newsletter articles.
    • Excellent information management and organizational skills, with great attention to detail.
    • Highly organized with the ability to handle multiple projects and priorities while coordinating work flow in a deadline-driven and service-focused environment.
    • Must be proactive and a self-starter with excellent problem-solving and implementation skills.
    • Ability to collaborate effectively and to work well as a member of multiple teams.
    • Demonstrated management experience.
    • Strong emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills, including ability to cultivate strong professional relationships with a range of groups both in person and by writing/phone.
    • A strong desire to contribute to Share Our Strength’s mission.
