    JOB TITLE:  SYSTEMS ENGINEER (CDL)

    LOCATION:  SAN DIEGO, CA

    US CITIZENSHIP:  REQUIRED

    JOB DESCRIPTION:

    Technology Unlimited Group (TUG) seeks a self-starting Systems Engineer who will be part of a team of system and software engineering professionals developing software-defined radio and supporting systems in a structured environment to meet our customer's high expectations.  The effort is to develop system and software concepts and prototypes for networked communications that include airborne communications nodes.  The position will be at the TUG and/or customer sites in San Diego.

    REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor degree in Engineering related to Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) disciplines.
    • Experience: Four years or more of relevant experience.
    • Experience with Tactical Data Links and/or wideband communications systems such as Common Data Link (CDL).
    • Experience with RF system concepts and components including antenna technology.
    • Knowledge of networking protocols and their application.
    • Experience with system and integration testing.
    • Experience with waveform fundamentals and/or definitions.
    • Experience with Flight Test, integration, OSPF, MPLS
    • Ability to develop software and/or simulations of interfaces using either MATLAB/EMANE/Octave/Python/C++ or other method(s).
    • Proficieny in technical writing and oral communications skills and proven ability to work with and communicate with project team members, customers, and service representatives.

    DESIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

    In addition to the required skills, the ideal candidate should have experience in one or more of the following areas:

    • Experience with Tactical Data Links, navigation and communications systems.
    • Proficiency with various types of test equipment and software packages
    • Experience with various wideband data link waveforms like Band-Width Efficient CDL and standard CDL
    • Defect Data Base tracking tools.
    • Knowledge of Adhoc networking including discovery functions.
    • Knowledge of Tactical networking waveforms such as Link 11, Link 16, and Link 22
    • Experience with SNMP
    • Waveform analysis
    • Ability to analyze or define new waveforms to meet customer requirements (propagation, bandwidth, data rates, etc)
    • Extensive experience with Strategic/Tactical Radios and military/commercial SATCOM radios.
    • Proficient with test equipment (signal generators, scopes, analyzers, power meters).
    • Experience with RF/Digital circuitry.
    • Experience with DOORS and other automated requirements tracking.
    • Familiar with SEI CMM/CMMI, and military or IEEE software engineering practices is desired.
    • Familiarity with Microsoft Word including the use of type styles and templates.

     

    ABILITY TO OBTAIN U.S. SECRET CLEARANCE (U.S. CITIZENSHIP).  CURRENT CLEARANCE PREFERRED.
