    JOB TITLE: DIAMOND/GEMSTONE ASSOCIATE

    REPORTS TO: GEMSTONE MANAGER LOCATION: TACORI OFFICE FLSA STATUS: NON - EXEMPT MAJOR FUNCTION: Diamond/Gemstone Associates work with precious stones and are responsible for completing diamond grading processes DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Examine gems during processing to ensure accuracy of angles and positions of cuts or bores, using magnifying glasses, loupes, or shadowgraphs. • Examine physical characteristics of gemstones or precious metals • Sorting and categorizing diamonds and colored stones. • Conduct quality control for smaller diamonds to ensure incoming inventory meets our strict, exacting standards. • Evaluate and document clarity and color characteristics within the standard GIA grading system to determine grade and value. • Calibrate sizes of fancy shapes SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: • High School Degree • Knowledge of diamonds, precious stones, semi-precious stones, and jewelry manufacturing • 2-3 years Diamond Grading experience • Operational Knowledge of: Loupe; Tripod • Ability to work in detail with accuracy • Ability to think strategically and independently • Willing to work overtime as needed • Proficiency in mathematical computations • Proficiency in MS Office - Excel/Word/Outlook • Must comply with all company policies & procedures including but not limited to: Safety; Confidentiality; Security • Must be flexible and willing to change responsibilities within the Department SAFETY AWARENESS: Maintain safety by adhering to safety policies, and be responsible to report accidents immediately. Support all safety programs. Proceed with caution when walking on slippery floors and congested areas. Ensure that proper safety instructions are given before operating any equipment. OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Ability to deal with the public in a professional and courteous manner. Ability to communicate with all leaders and fellow associates. Must be able to communicate effectively with customers. Ability to handle conflict situations in a professional manner. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to work in a standard office environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms, sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch. Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by Leadership.
