Our client is seeking a qualified geotechnical engineer to deliver on fieldwork, and delight clients through thoughtful, innovative, and efficient solutions to challenges on a variety of Commercial, Industrial and Residential geotechnical projects. Our client is well positioned to provide top-flight geotechnical engineering services throughout the Pittsburgh and Western PA region.

    The Geotechnical Engineer will apply their expertise to develop unique solutions to highly visible and challenging projects.  You will have the opportunity to work with a team of dedicated project managers, and engineers to solve complex engineering problems with a geotechnical focus in a multi-disciplinary environment.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Observe geotechnical explorations, install geotechnical instrumentation and monitor geotechnical project sites.
    • Monitor construction instrumentation; observe field locations for changes/issues, and report findings.
    • Perform geotechnical analyses including bearing capacity evaluations, stability evaluations, and seepage analyses.
    • Write field and engineering reports to the client or regulatory specifications.
    • Prepare technical specifications, design drawings, and construction submittals in accord requirements and design assumptions.
    • Work in a wide variety of field conditions including extreme weather conditions, moderate to loud noise conditions, heights and lifting equipment and samples of up to 75 lbs. with little or no assistance.
    • Some weekend, overtime and alternate schedule work may be required; as well as overnight and interstate travel.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • A Bachelor's degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering is required.
    • 2+ years' experience in geotechnical field work is required.
    • An EIT certification is required.
    • Experience with geotechnical software such as AutoCAD, SEEP/W, SLOPE/W, SETTLE3D, L-Pile, is required.
    • Soils laboratory experience is preferred.
    • Nuclear Density Gauge Operator; American Concrete Institute (ACI) Inspector, or Related certifications from ICC are a plus.
