WHAT DOES A TYPICAL DAY LOOK LIKE FOR PLANNING AND EXERCISE SPECIALIST (RECONNAISSANCE EXPERT) SUPPORT?
- Provide the SME in Special Operations combat operations and training requirements.
- Possess an in-depth knowledge of current SOF Reconnaissance tactics, techniques, and procedures.
- Assist in the planning, development, and oversight of training/exercise programs that support real-world operational rehearsals.
- Managing reconnaissance-specific training and equipment.
- Participate in liaison and planning with governmental agencies and joint commands to advance the development of reconnaissance training programs and exercises to delineate technical requirements and to enhance inter-operability.
- Be knowledgeable of a wide range of technologies/techniques applicable to the assigned tasks.
- Perform duties in various levels of compartmented security, each with separate policies and procedures.
- Support decisions made and actions taken, which are made more by changing international or interagency roles, complex relationships, and controversial issues and national priority missions.
- Conducts Pre Deployment Site Survey duties.
- Work around demolitions (to include breaching), all small and large arms up to and including 40-millimeter, .50 caliber, and Anti-Tank munitions, pyrotechnics to include ground burst simulators, and simunitions.
- Operate military and civilian vehicles in the execution of ground mobility training.
- Demonstrate various weapons handling and marksmanship procedures and authorized to sign for unit issued weapons.
- Observe in the following training operations: Close Quarters Combat, urban and rural assaults training operations, small unit tactics, low-visibility operations and tradecraft, Personal Security Detail operations, combat life saver training including Tactical Combat Casualty Care.
- Utilize night vision devices, weapons systems small and large, drive standard and nonstandard military and civilian vehicles, fly on rotary and fixed wing aircraft, operate standard and nonstandard maritime vehicles.
- Be familiar with Calls for Fire and how to control direct and indirect fire from ground weapons systems.
- Operate military and civilian radios systems.
- Perform duties as Range Safety Officer/Officer in Charge in accordance with base and installation range policies and procedures.
- Instruct and guide civilian and military role players in support of training exercises and conduct all training exercise support operations.
- Perform duties as target safety official that include safety evaluation walk-throughs for integrated live fire scenarios.
- Will have complete working knowledge of live-fire and simulation-fire safety standards.
- Work with interagency working groups, National agencies, DOD agencies, U.S. Intelligence agencies and other military commands.
- Work as a team builder to foster consistent interpretation among operations personnel, associated agencies, and directorates of pertinent plans, policy, and exercises.
- Serve as a reconnaissance SME to higher headquarters.
- Be knowledgeable of a wide range of technologies/techniques applicable to the assigned tasks.
WHAT QUALIFICATIONS DO YOU LOOK FOR?
- A current TS/SCI security clearance.
- 10+ years of experience in a reconnaissance position working within a special operations unit.
- In depth knowledge of current SOF Reconnaissance tactics, techniques, and procedures.
