    Not sure if this is right for you? Read on for more details.   Our client is seeking a qualified individual to focus on thoughtful, innovative, and efficient solutions to design challenges on a variety of Commercial, Industrial and Residential land development projects.  Our client is well positioned to provide Land Development engineering services throughout the Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey areas.

    The Land Development Engineer will perform site development tasks such as grading and drainage design associated with civil engineering projects. Most work will be performed within Autocad and alongside existing office staff/management to successfully complete projects within established budgets and deadlines.

    Responsibilities

    • Executes design work on Land Development projects that will include land planning and feasibility, site design, site grading, earthwork balance, drainage, utilities, sanitary collection and water distribution systems, storm water management, erosion and sediment control designs/plans
    • Applies professional judgment to lead and independently complete assigned engineering designs.
    • Actively assists the Project Manager, in assigning tasks and schedules to other engineers and project team members, answers questions and monitors progress.
    • Checks the accuracy (formal and informal QA/QC) of assigned tasks completed by other engineering and technical staff.
    • Makes major design decisions that meet the needs of external customers while coordinating the impact of such decisions on related project efforts.
    • Pro-actively identifies technical, schedule or financial issues and seeks resolution from the Project Manager and/or the client, as appropriate to the situation.
    • Assists the client in bidding or contractor selection if authorized by the Project Manager.
    • Monitors construction and supervises field personnel as assigned.
    • Responds to contractor questions and issues, and prepares and issues project addendum as needed.
    • Recommends and prepares change orders.
    • Participates in the creation of engineering services proposals, including the calculation/estimation of time schedules and costs of the proposed work.
    • Independently communicates on technical matters with the client.
    • Acts as technical expert on assigned projects when operating as an individual contributor and acts as Project Manager on smaller scope or specialty projects as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
    • 4+ years of site design
    • PE preferred
    • Knowledge of local city, county and state land use processes and regulations (NJ)
    • Proficiency in storm water management, hydraulics, hydrological analysis, grading and other site development related designs
    • Demonstrated Civil 3D skills with the ability to design site layouts concept through completion
    • Ability to interact well with coworkers, clients, and regulatory agencies
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical and judgment capabilities
