    Job Description

    As a Talent Recruiter – Selection, you’ll lead the interview and selection process for instructional hiring across six middle schools and two high schools in Newark, ensuring candidates have a high-quality experience and school leaders are supported every step of the way. In this role, you will partner closely with an Outreach Recruiter, who owns top-of-funnel sourcing, while you focus on screening, interview coordination, candidate engagement, and school leader collaboration. You will serve as a trusted advisor to school teams and play a critical role in helping Uncommon build diverse, high-performing instructional teams.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    SELECTION STRATEGY & EXECUTION

    • Manage candidate assessment, communications, and progress from application through offer
    • Conduct resume reviews and phone interviews to assess candidate fit and alignment
    • Coordinate and facilitate both virtual and in-person interviews in partnership with school teams
    • Collaborate with 8 school leaders and regional superintendents to ensure smooth, timely, and effective hiring processes
    • Ensure consistent and positive candidate experiences that reflect Uncommon’s values and culture

    SCHOOL LEADER PARTNERSHIP

    • Partner with Principals and Regional Superintendents to identify hiring priorities, define selection processes, and maintain alignment
    • Serve as the main point of contact for selection logistics and decisions
    • Equip school leaders with tools, data, and support to move high-potential candidates through the funnel efficiently

    CROSS-FUNCTIONAL COLLABORATION

    • Work closely with the Outreach Recruiter to align on candidate handoffs, funnel health, and hiring timelines
    • Partner on recruitment events and strategies targeting Newark middle and high school instructional talent
    • Collaborate with regional and network teams on shared projects that improve selection systems, tools, and candidate experience

    DATA & SYSTEMS

    • Maintain accurate candidate records in our Applicant Tracking System (ATS)
    • Monitor hiring funnel metrics and use data to identify process improvements and trends
    • Provide regular updates and insights to school and regional leaders
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required
    • 3–4 years of professional experience, with at least 1–2 years in recruitment or K–12 school-based roles
    • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
    • Comfort working with recruitment tools and systems to track progress and make data-informed decisions
    • High level of initiative, flexibility, and ability to manage shifting priorities
    • Commitment to educational equity and to Uncommon’s mission of serving historically underserved communities

    Compensation

    The starting pay will most likely be $67,300 to $71,300. The full range for this role is between $67,300 and $79,200 but the starting pay will depend on various factors including relevant professional experience, education, certifications, and tenure with Uncommon Schools. To receive an offer at the top of the range, candidates will need significant experience beyond the job description requirements. Because we value staff tenure in a role, we do not currently cap salary ranges for current staff members.
