BACKGROUND:

Our Client is in the process of modernizing many of their legacy applications and moving and upgrading them to the latest technologies using best practices. As such, they’re migrating applications and systems to and implementing new applications in the Microsoft Azure Commercial (MAC) cloud environment and leveraging Azure PaaS whenever possible using the App, Data, and other Azure Services.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

21Tech is seeking a candidate to develop standards and procedures for both migrating or modernizing existing workloads to Microsoft Azure and for implementing new systems in the Azure environment. In addition, some backend systems may need to remain on the Client’s on-premise environment (SFCloud) environment during the migration of several systems which would require hybrid cloud solutions. The candidate will define the strategy and plan for each system by assessing the apps, databases, and infrastructure necessary. Prepare the environment with in-house staff and assist with the actual migrations or modernization of the various workloads by using automated tools including terraform scripts, etc. Lastly, post migration of each system, the candidate will assist in-house staff with implementing management best practices, securing the environments against threats and developing a strong and effective governance model.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assessment of workload and inventory of onprem environment with performance metrics and workload cost estimates.
• Assessment and analysis of on-prem database servers and migration path to Azure Data services.
• Cost comparison of total cost of ownership and saving from migration to Azure.
• Full migration plan, architecture, roadmap and phased approach with workload priorities, timelines, milestones, resources necessary with related workload as projects.
• Documentation of detail configuration of the landing zones of the targeted cloud services.
• Documentation on the use of the tools or scripts used for migrations.
• Completed migration of identified workloads.
• Training of in-house staff and documentation of environment security.
• Training of in-house staff and documentation of management tools including workload performance monitoring.
• Implementation of governance model with supporting documentation.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• 5 years or more of Azure migration/modernization experience.
• 3 years or more securing Azure and hybrid cloud environment.
• 3 years or more managing and optimizing Azure cloud environment.
• Knowledge and experience architecting and implementing Azure solutions.
• Broad knowledgebase of Microsoft .Net development, DevOps and Azure services and environment.
• Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of internal and external stakeholders.
• Familiarity with government IT operations.
• Accuracy, end user documentation and procedural focus.
