    Job Summary:

    We are looking for a Data Warehouse Engineer to join our team in San Diego. This role will be in San Diego near La Jolla. The Data Warehouse Engineer will work independently to support our Manager of Enterprise Applications Technology. The Data Warehouse Engineer is responsible for developing, testing, improving and maintaining new and existing databases hosted on-premises and cloud environments. provides ongoing support.

    Job Duties:

    • Program Analysis and troubleshooting database functionality, including interfaces linked to databases (both standard & custom) as part of support activities.
    • Creation of technical specifications from the functional specifications.
    • Creation of unit test cases and perform Unit Testing.
    • Issue analysis and bug fixing.
    • Programing database algorithms to support database functionality enhancements and interfaces including but not limited to Store Procedures, XML parsing, database functions, triggers and views
    • Setting data storage rules to determine database stores for new information and data sets. Establish data pipelines and rules for interfaces to pull data sets and properly store new information.
    • Allocating computing resources on new database functionality to determine what hardware and software resources are needed to complete computing tasks
    • Analyze data sets to improve database operations and optimize efficiency by analyzing patterns in data, look for trends and the use of normalization/denormalization techniques
    • Merging databases into a shared system
    • Automate database tasks identify common database commands and find ways to automate or simplify task by using macros, database triggers and scheduled task or ETLs.
    • Adhere to companywide system release schedules and calendar
    • Working independently or under supervision:
    • Interacts with System Analysts and business stakeholders to assist in the gathering and documentation of functional requirements and creation of technical specifications;
    • Collaborates with users to improve application functionality, ease-of-use, and security;
    • Stays up-to-date on technology trends and database-specific advances, such as new software versions or competing technologies;

    Technical Requirements:

    • Hands-on experience on MS SQL Databases and Azure platform
    • Expertise on T-SQL Language.
    • Knowledge on ETL packages desired
    • Knowledge on Data APIs and different API’s request formats such as json & xml
    • Development & testing of Interfaces between databases and on prem and cloud systems.
    • Hands on experience on Database backup and restore procedures
    • Hands on experience on Performance management and tuning
    • Good Understanding of Integrating Database data sets with external systems using middleware.
    • Expertise in troubleshooting database performance issues and data locks
    • Expertise on Database Administration
    • Experience Data Lake data repositories will be an added advantage.

    Job Requirements:

    • Associate degree or equivalent work experience required, Bachelor’s degree preferred, in Computer Science or a Business-related field
    • At least 5 years of experience working with the technology in scope for the position
    • Strong understanding of application design and development SDLC principles
    • Experience in using support and change management tools like ServiceNow is desired
    • Exposure to CSV (Computer System Validation) principles and documentations
    • Experience in FDA regulated industry is preferred
    • Willingness to learn new technologies and expand the knowledge
